Scrap lumber, a metal cross, artwork from The Graphics Fairy, & Dixie Belle paint & stencils equal fun and colorful Easter art.
For this easy project, I grabbed a scrap piece of wood from my husbands stash and turned it into art by first painting the 1 x 6 with the color Daisy from The Dixie Belle Paint Company. Then using a Dixie Belle stencil, I added a design using the color Dixie Belle Blue.
Tip #1: Makeup sponges are a great way to apply paint when stenciling.
Once the board was covered with the design, I connected the lines...
I gave it a good sanding and then added glaze. I started with glaze in the color Grunge, which is a light brown...
Then I added Van Dyke Brown, which is a darker brown, around the edges. Tip #2: Using multiple colors of glaze adds more depth.
Once the glaze was dry, I used E6000 to add a metal cross to the board.
I then glued on an acrylic frame and added an Easter picture that I found on The Graphics Fairy website.
How cute would this be if you added a sweet Easter photo of your kids? Super cute!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece with SYC.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed watching how you did the pattern. I think I might give a pattern a try on my next painted board.
Such a beautiful use of so many different "pieces" to create a work of art.
