a mindful year

what's a good goal for life at any time? i strive to be more present and mindful, that's a good one for me.

for our midweek muse: resolutions.

background pattern paper is from the gecko galz namaste paper pack with a checkerboard pattern at base from a retired itKuPiLLi celestial backgrounds kit. the meditator and lotus are from a retired with wild abandon kit and a few other items (dragonfly, light effect) from various sources.

wishing you all a mindful year; love to all.

night sky; paisley

the sunday postcard art challenge today is: night sky. with such a lovely theme i ended up making 2 postcards.

images from rhonda's originals, pixabay, tumblefish studios (words), miles beyond the moon, and itKuPiLLi.

images from with wild abandon, cryztal rain, miles beyond the moon, and pixabay.

===============================

on the proper day and on prompt: today's "index card a day" challenge sponsored by daisy yellow art, is on the theme of "paisley."

i printed a paisley image from the web, cut the pieces out and traced onto various gecko galz papers and cut out the pieces to make my own paisley pattern. underneath that is some watercolor spray inks and a stencil that didn't work out for a different project so it became the background for this one. the woman, word, and her crown are from ART TEA LIFE.

==============================================

last nut not least today, a birthday card i made for a friend today. she and i are both fans of the late, great shirley chisholm.

i pulled the photo and quote from the web. the paper and butterfly are from gecko galz.

that's it! love to all.

happy national unicorn day!

did you know that april 9 is national unicorn day? so for the take a word "black and white" theme i chose unicorns to celebrate their special day.

i appreciate that unicorns are typically full of color and glitter but they can be depicted in black and white as well of course.  the background paper is from the gecko galz graphical paper pack and the unicorns and butterflies are by with wild abandon (company seems to be closed, cannot find a link).

love to all, with sparkle and glitter!

june gecko galz inspiration -- my first "peg doll"

here is some additional inspiration for you this month featuring some new products from gecko galz this month and some good old items from my stash. inspired by julie from magpie heaven blog I've tried my hand at creating a peg doll.

here are the details.

supplies: gecko galz "pretty portraits” collage sheet (new this month), gecko galz high tea paper pack, "with wild abandon" digital stamps, washi tape, heart punch, lace border, prima flower, lindy’s stamp gang spray stain.

instructions:  this piece starts with a 6 inch high wooden peg (giant clothespin).  i “painted” the peg with a stain from lindy’s stamp gang.  meanwhile i cut out faces i liked from the pretty portraits collage sheet and also digitally added images from with wild abandon to sheets of high tea paper.  using modpodge i attached the papers from the high tea paper pack and then attached the faces.  on one side i added washi tape at the bottom.  on the other side i added a lace border and a punched heart.

i hope you'll be inspired to check out the new products at gecko galz.  there are always freebies available on the blog as well.

love to all.

summer holidays and such

our theme this week at tag tuesday is summer holiday.  as many know who stop by here much, my idea of a wonderful summer holiday is definitely time at the beach.  so that is the focus of my tag.

the vintage bathing beauty, the carte postale and the lovely sea-leafy background paper are all from gecko galz. there is some vellum script border from alphastamps.  the wings on my bathing beauty are from lunagirl. i finished the piece with some distressing, some fun stickers and ribbon.

i'm linking this up to several challenges:
summer fiesta at unruly paper arts
bright sunny colors at tagalong challenge
sun, surf and sand at bombshell stamps challenge blog
things with wings at try it on tuesday
things with wings and ribbon at really reasonable ribbon.

i also have an update on the gecko galz blog and a chance for you to win products from with wild abandon.  go to the blog and vote for your favorite DT creation using both gecko galz and with wild abandon products.  you'll be entered for a chance to win some goodies from with wild abandon -- and their products are stunning!  deadline july 31 -- i hope you'll participate!

have a beautiful week; love to all.
