frida faces

the new two week challenge at tag tuesday is "faces."  i took the opportunity to use my new frida face stamp which was given to me over the holidays -- but in an unusual way...

the background paper is from sabor papel (purchased from altered pages).  the moon face stamp is from inkadinkado, frida is from 100 proof press and the crow body and heart are from silver crow creations

here the background paper is from gecko galz although the trim at the bottom is also sabor papel.  frida and the hawk body are both from 100 proof press.

some years ago i was in an ATC swap where the theme was "bird people."  we could either do bird bodies with people heads or people bodies with bird heads.  i thought this would be a fun way to use my frida face stamp especially since frida is such a mysterious figure who often worked with nature and animals in her own art.

the new challenge will run for two weeks from today so feel free to link up!

love to all.

quotes and sayings

we're challenged to use quotes or sayings in our tags at tag tuesday this week.  here's mine:

the sentiment is a stamp from silver crow creations.  the moon is from the harvest moon collage sheet by lunagirl and the dancing girl is from the bring on the dancing girls collage sheet also by lunagirl.  she is definitely flexible! the ribbon, prima flower, die cut border and background papers are from my stash.

i'm also linking to the three muses "quote" challenge and to the
 inspiration destination "anything goes" challenge.

enjoy!  love to all.

celebrating poe! a blog hop

lost coast designs and carmen's veranda are hosting a poe blog hop in honor of the birthday of edgar allen poe this week -- today is the last day so i've just made it in!  the only requirement is to use at least one rubber stamp.

my card features a poe image and background paper from gecko galz, a raven stamp by silver crow creations and text from dover publishers.

i'm also adding in an old poe creation just for fun, a few years old, using gecko galz products.

sweet pea july progressive challenge part 2

greetings friends. for part 2 of the july progressive challenge at the sweet pea stamps friends and fans facebook page we were given a digital image by sandra caldwell called queen of wonder.  she is a queen modeled after the alice in wonderland queen of hearts but she is not stern like that queen.

i can't decide how to interpret the expression on her face.  but in search of a sentiment i used this rubber stamp from silver crow creations -- the sentiment was spoken by eeyore from winnie the pooh but i felt it matched the mood of this card!  as always i colored the digital image with colored pencils and added a few simple embellishments.

can't wait to see what we get to play with in august!  to learn more about the progressive challenges please take a look at the sweet pea stamps facebook page.

love to all.

contrariwise...

our prompt at tag tuesday is "arrows" and for some reason this made me think of tweedledee and tweedledum.  i am pretty sure there is no good reason for that.  actually i think my mind is fixing on all the times in the alice story that people give conflicting information on which way to go... anyway, here is the tag I made:

i used a checkerboard stencil and walnut ink for the background.  the arrows were die cuts in my stash.  all of the stamps (the phrase, the tweedles and the pointing hands) are from silver crow creations.  the sentiment says, "if it was so, it might be, and if it were so, it would be, but as it isn't, it ain't -- tweedledee."  sadly i smudged it with my finger when finishing up the tag as i thought it was dry.  oh well.

enjoy; love to all.

coffee heaven -- using digital backgrounds

using digital backgrounds is the new two week challenge at the cheerful stamp pad.  our challenge sponsor is coosty creation at stitchy bear digital stamps.  a randomly selected challenge winner will get some goodies from stitchy bear.

i used two digital backgrounds designed by coosty creations -- the coffee beans is one of them and the coffee mug was cut from another.  the word "heaven" was also cut from a coosty creations sentiment digi. my washi tape has the word chocolate on it.  in my view good coffee and good chocolate are heaven.  thus the diving beauty diving right into that great cuppa joe!  the stamp is by silver crow creations.

love to all.

bird people ATCS received! and a couple more by me.

with permission from the artists, i am sharing the glorious bird people ATCs i received from the swap hosted by marion at the bockel24 blog.

left to right these beauties came from daniela rogali of berlin, germany, sabine busch of bremen germany and jo murray from queensland, australia.  this was a very international swap!  and each piece so expertly done.

i also got a gorgeous bonus ATC from marion:

of the many i made i have 2 more that i made which i'd forgotten to post here.  here they are now:

i didn't swap these two, they were extras.  my images are from lunagirl, graphics fairy and paula's kits club. stamp (eeyore sentiment) by silver crow creations.

i had a ball merging people and bird parts and it has inspired me to try some other new things -- which will soon be shared here!

love to all.

blessed are the flexible...

for they shall never be bent out of shape!  i made this card for the new two week "anything goes" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad.  our challenge sponsor is gecko galz.  as usual a randomly selected winner will get some shopping credit at their wonderful online store -- gobs of lovely collage sheets and more.

i had a lot of fun making this.  the dancer, clock, eiffel tower and the yellow patterned designer paper are all from various gecko galz collage sheets.  the stamped sentiment is from silver crow creations.  butterfly border is k and company.

anything goes also happens to be the week 9 challenge prompt at scraps of color so i'm linking up there. and finally i'm joining the march challenge at the artistic stamper which is "letters, words and numbers."

anything goes means you can link up any new creation on any theme.  please join the fun at the cheerful stamp pad!
love to all.

i love your hat!

here we go with challenge #69 at the cheerful stamp pad and it is "i love your hat!"  our challenge sponsor is rick st dennis designs.  a randomly selected challenge entrant will get some digital images from our sponsor.  my card features a very well-dressed and fancifully-hatted lady:

i grew up in a tradition in which women often wore elaborate hats to church and as i colored this digi with coloring pencils i was thinking of these charming ladies.  indeed my beloved late grandmother was a talented amateur milliner so hats also make me think of her.  all these thoughts moved me to use my "amazing grace" stamp from silver crow creations.  i also picked a fancy flower embellishment and a complementary butterfly. the background is a bit of card-stock i'd long ago colored with a variety of spray watercolors.

do you like or wear hats?  i do!  do you have any in your stamp or vintage image collections?  then by all means join our challenge!

happy week; love to all.

this worldly gentleman

a blog challenge i haven't played along with for awhile is the take a word challenge blog.  this week the challenge is "gentlemen."  i was hopping along blogland and found a delectable free image at olde curiosity shoppe and i had to use it.  see why?
is he not the BEST?  that look!  i think i kind of love him but know i'd do well to stay away...
so for this i covered neutral card stock with designer tissue paper, tore off a bit of old map and added that, put the image on another piece of designer paper, threw in a few more embellies and added my favorite crow stamp from silver crow creations which i stamped on paper, colored and then cut and glued to this piece.

i would really encourage you to visit the olde curiosity shoppe. it is actually another of generous June from dezinaworld's blogs and she posts free images several times a week.  consider becoming her blog follower and then you can stay up to date on the free goodies.

i very rarely make masculine pieces but i am pleased with this one.
okay, til later.  love to all
