book pages; back to school

our new challenge at tag tuesday for the next two weeks, hosted by our lovely DT sister Pinky, is: book pages. use book pages on your tag to meet this challenge. since school has been starting his month for kids in my town, i used an alphabet book page for a back to school scene.

i used a digital alphabet book page from dover publications (you can sign up for their newsletter and get weekly freebies...), and printed it on paper from gecko galz (curiosity shoppe kit) to make my tag base. the stack of books and "school" banner are also from gecko galz, the school days stamp set. the little girl is from a tim holtz paper doll set. i finished this with a butterfly brad from eyelet outlet.

love to all.

book pages and fables

for sunday postcard art the theme is "old book pages." since i wanted to make a digital creation, i started with a digital book page from dover publications, a page from an aesop's fables children's book (a freebie rom their newsletter). it was very white so i made it look "old" by overlaying some gecko galz paper (curiosity shop)with the opacity reduced, and overlays from cryztal rain's "dirty overlays."

i added crows, also by cryztal rain (mischief and mayhem), and a few other digital elements for interest.

i hope you like; love to all.

mushrooms/fungi

well here's a new and original challenge theme idea for tag tuesday from wonderful wendy of the tag tuesday design team -- include mushrooms/fungi on your tag! this challenge started last week and there is one week remaining to play along. here's my creation!

have you ever been making something and the making of it felt especailly joyous? that's what this piece did for me. it just kind of made me giggle with delight. i hope you enjoy it also.

images are from a retired tumblefish studio set of digital images. the background digital paper is by gecko galz. printed on to the paper are free images of mushrooms i downloaded years ago from dover publications. there's some flower washi tape at the bottom also.

enjoy; love to all.

a little lion in a bingo hat

for moo mania and more "headwear" challenge, as usual, i've made an actual "moo" (approximately 1.1 x 2.8 inches):

background papers and star by tumblefish studio, bingo dunce cap by gecko galz and lion head from dover publications.  who said lions can't wear hats?

linking to "little things mean a lot" challenge at try it on tuesday, all creations must be 4x4 or smaller.  sorry i forgot the ruler!  next time.

love to all.

film title challenge

our prompt at tag tuesday this week is "film title" which presented the double challenge of both thinking of a film and then figuring out how to depict it.  i did some channel surfing on the TV and got my perfect idea!

can you guess my film?  the apes were free downloads from dover publications and the planet scene is from the lunagirl "celestial #1" collage sheet.  i like how this came out.

enjoy!  love to all.

fruit tag

happy june! fruit is our prompt at tag tuesday this week. summer is a fine time for thinking of fruits (and eating them!) and summer is nearly here in my hemisphere.  i made a simple tag using a pear from dover publications, digital background paper from gecko galz and a few stash items.

enjoy; love to all.

insects

at tag tuesday this week we are working with the theme of "insects."  i have a stamp from stampington that i was eager to use for this prompt and i played with it twice to make two tags this week.

this first tag is tiny, about 1 by 2 and a half inches. i covered the tag base with french language print designer paper, added a letter from an alphabet sheet by altered pages , stamped my insect and added a bit of cavallini and co. washi tape at the bottom.   edges were distressed with ink.

this second tag is larger, about 1 and a half by 4 inches. i printed the skull image from dover publications (from thei weekly free samples) onto designer paper by gecko galz.  i stamped my insect onto the skull and i used postal washi tape on this one.

this stamp came from a set and i can't say whether i'd used it before but i must say i like it a lot.
enjoy; love to all.

steampunk witchery

this witch is summoning all things steampunk!  i've made another DT creation for the lunagirl moonbeams "witchery" challenge which i am also entering into the tag along challenge "steampunk hallow e'en" challenge.  while i'm at it i'm linking to the belli challenge "hallow e'en" theme.

the summoning witch, the butterfly and the hot air balloon are all from collage sheets by lunagirl. there is background paper from 7 gypsies, a torn witch's stew recipe label from k & company.  the remaining steampunk images are from dover publications and the cog brad is from alphastamps. oh, the spiders are from random sticker sheets i had.

love to all.

steampunk girls: ready for adventure!

the steampunk girls blog challenge at lunagirl moonbeams blog is on for one more week (deadline to link up is august 11).  would you like to learn more about steampunk?  see karen's informative blog post on the topic here.  and for the on sale steampunk themed collage sheets at lunagirl visit here.

because jules verne is the father of steampunk i started this creation by going online to find a good photo of him and also an original book cover from one of his books.  the cover i used here is “voyages extraordinaire” or “extraordinary voyage.”  this steampunk girl is truly ready for adventure!  she has her luggage and her compass and she herself  is dressed to kill.  the hand and eye of fate in the corner above her suggest an element of danger but her patron saint jules verne is right behind her luggage.  what could go wrong?

the steampunk girl and the luggage are from the lunagirl “steampunk girls” collage sheet.  the jules verne photo and the book cover image are from the internet.  the eye, hand of fate and compass are from dover publications.  the background paper is from seven gypsies.

sweet lady

trishia at french kissed postcards has taken her etsy shop to a new level with instant downloads of her fabulous french postcards.  i couldn't resist trying and downloaded this lovely image.

i regret that she is rather faint in this scan as the image is really charming.  she is holding a butterfly.  i layered her on a series of designer papers i have from dover publications. i did a rather uneven set of cuts and slightly angled layout for interest, and some distressing around the edges.  i think it looks quite nice in person.  i'll be sending this sweet lady to another sweet lady i know to say hello.

i'm linking this to "share your cup."

enjoy; love to all.

tea party on pink saturday

i made this card for sweet cheryl at cheryls creative cards.  sadly she was in an awful car accident a couple months ago and it is taking a long time to recover.  send your love and thoughts her way. she is a dear one and such a talented artist.  we certainly must remember to cherish each moment and be grateful for every bit of health and wellness.

i'm also honoring pink saturday with this dear little tea party card.  the main image is from the dover publications free samples.

love to all.

final potion bottle and a little card...

well, we had no internet for the several days before thanksgiving so i never finished posting my chipboard potion bottles.  and then i was happily gone visiting relatives in california for the extended holiday.  now i am back, our new modem is functioning, and i want to share that last alphastamps potion bottle swap creation i made...

all images came from alphastamps. the bat/moon sticker was from the stash and that fabulous textured paper came from a giveaway.  when i pick up my mail tomorrow i bet i'll have received my return potion bottles from the swap!  i hope so.  it is always so much fun seeing what others make.

i also want to share a card i made for a friend...

though the images are not specific to the holiday i sent is as a thanksgiving card.  i think i got that image from the free dover sampler, you can sign up on their website for weekly samples of goodies from dover publications. i also used other pretty coordinating papers and embellies as usual.

if you celebrated thanksgiving i hope it was wonderful.  whether you celebrated or not, i hope that all is wonderful for each of you who visits here.

love to all.

thinking peach...

this piece is for a challenge at the drunken stampers challenge blog: "think peach for endometrial/uterine cancer month."
unfortunately there are too many in my world who are receiving treatment for various cancers.  i will send this card to one such person.  the stamp sentiment here is from penny black and it is stamped on origami paper (with cranes, for hope)  the background butterfly paper was a free sample from dover publications.

enjoy; love to all.

romantic valentine tags

romance is still in the air at the cheerful stamp pad!  you have one more week to enter the challenge by linking up a creation involving romance.  a randomly selected winner will get a prize from this week's sponsor, "of the heart."  this week i am sharing two valentine tags i created as a member of the design team.
these tags were inspired by a tutorial for "elegant designer tags" on cindy adkin's whimsical musings blog; see it HERE.  i've also linked up to Cindy's new "woman thing Monday link party" HERE.  i could not resist picking up the colorful tags from shabby cottage studio.  my background text stamp is "dream text" by Stampendous.  these darling vintage valentines came from the dover publications weekly sampler.  if you sign up you get an email each week with a link to free images for use in your art.  there is such a wealth of goodies available on the web for mixed media -- it actually boggles the mind!  i think i have more images saved on my computer -- both free and purchased -- than i may ever be able to use! but i will try my best...

have a wonderful week; love to all.
