we have hallow e'en or autumn as our challenge prompt this week at tag tuesday so i took the opportunity to make one last "witchery" DT piece for the current lunagirl moonbeams blog challenge as my contribution this week. (you have just 'til sunday if you want to link up to the lunagirl challenge.)
i really like this vintage image from lunagirl and i just grabbed all kinds of papers and embellishments for this tag. do you know i never cared much for hallow e'en until i started crafting? something about designing with this theme has captured my imagination even though i otherwise pretty much didn't get involved in the holiday. well, you just never know.
happy week; love to all.
this blog is to chart my creative evolution with stamping, paper-crafting, mixed media and some other stuff i haven't figured out yet... on the theory that challenging myself to try new things and post them to the "world" will be good for me. and might also be good for others. my blog title is inspired by julia cameron's "the artist's way" and her admonition to fill the well.

she asks, what does the future hold?
she asks, what does the future hold--
can it be divined from board or ball?
or is the key, may i be so bold,
deep in my heart where love is all?
here is my DT creation for week two of "witchery" at lunagirl moonbeams. while creating this piece i was inspired to write the poem above. you have one more week to link up a creation on our theme.
i'm also linking this to the "goth/hallow e'en" challenge at drunken stampers.
love to all.

purple and yellow color challenge
we are launching a color challenge at the cheerful stamp pad for the next two weeks -- you are invited to make a new creation using the colors purple and yellow. we have a new challenge sponsor, jelly park digital stamps, and they will provide a prize for the randomly selected winner. i was provided a sweet flower vase by jelly park for my 1st DT creation.
i colored the digi with colored pencils using mostly purples and yellows. i used yellow cardstock and a piece of unevenly cut purple striped designer paper for my base. i added butterflies in the color palette and a couple of clear beads. this feels like it could be a good "thinking of you" type card.
feel free to join our challenge; have a great week. hope you enjoyed a little break from hallow e'en stuff -- but there is more to come!
love to all.

just visiting gramps...
although i'm pretty sure gramps has passed on. and in fact grandson is looking a little zombie-ish...
this is my first time playing along at the frilly and funkie challenge blog and i'm entering the "what's your poison" challenge, requiring a hallow e'en creation using green and black but no orange.
i stamped the cat (100 proof press), grandson (rogue redhead designs) and gramps/skeleton (inkadinkado) on green paper and cut them out. the moon (character constructions) is stamped on white. the swirly background paper is from alpha stamps. my best crafting investment this season came from a little trolling around ebay where i came across some fab hallow e'en die cuts (here i've used the fence and ghost) which i've been using like crazy on all my hallow e'en creations. the gravestone is a sticker from my stash, company unknown. but a clever grave marker, yes?
enjoy; love to all.

cute hallow e'en at wicked wednesday
with this piece i am successfully completing my goal to enter three challenges at the gecko galz yahoo group for october and am also submitting this ATC for the "cute hallow e'en" challenge at wicked wednesday.
the girl and "boo" bingo images are from gecko galz. the spidery lace is from alpha stamps. the rest are random goodies. linking up to happy pink saturday for the pink or seasonal theme.
love to all.

colors of the season
there's a lot of black and orange going on and this piece responds to two color challenges of the season:
at the gecko galz yahoogroups it is the "black and orange" challenge;
at the unruly paper arts reader art quest 1 it is "black."
finally i'm linking up to the "hallow e'en" challenge at dream valley challenges.
even in the scan i think you can see pretty well that the black paper here is special -- it is the from the leather paperline at paper temptress. although it really looks like black leather it handles like paper and it was fun to use. the owl is from the "owling for you" collage sheet at gecko galz. the rest are stash goodies.

steampunk witchery
this witch is summoning all things steampunk! i've made another DT creation for the lunagirl moonbeams "witchery" challenge which i am also entering into the tag along challenge "steampunk hallow e'en" challenge. while i'm at it i'm linking to the belli challenge "hallow e'en" theme.
the summoning witch, the butterfly and the hot air balloon are all from collage sheets by lunagirl. there is background paper from 7 gypsies, a torn witch's stew recipe label from k & company. the remaining steampunk images are from dover publications and the cog brad is from alphastamps. oh, the spiders are from random sticker sheets i had.
love to all.

autumn tag with pumpkins
today i've got a tag for the city crafters challenge blog for their "pumpkins" theme. also, as a contributor to the tag tuesday blog, my creation celebrates our theme this week which is "autumn." i wanted to do something a little different so i made a calendar page. i never got around to finishing a blank calendar i had for 2013 so october was available for use! first i distressed the calendar page with antique linen distress ink.
the two vintage images are from gecko galz. the remaining autumn-y embellishments are from my stash.
this makes me think that it might be sort of fun to make a calendar tag book. hmm...
enjoy the week; love to all.

trick or witchery...
"witchery" is the new challenge at lunagirl moonbeams so in the hallowe'en spirit you are invited to link up your artistic creations featuring witches whether they are sweet, spooky or comical. i think the witches in this vintage photo provided by lunagirl are all three: "just one last cup of tea before we go off to trick or treat girls!"
you may recognize the background from another recently posted creation. it is another piece of my cardboard which i'd covered in gesso, stamped with french script, then stenciled with a flower stencil. i put a piece of that on some orange cardstock, added my distressed image of the witches and arranged some other embellishments to finish this piece.
please enjoy and consider joining our challenge!
love to all.

dia de los muertos (day of the dead)
for the second week of the "use a stencil" challenge at the cheerful stamp pad i decided to use two wonderful stencils by TCW (the crafters workshop) that i bought long ago but had put away in a drawer -- a sugar skull image and a bunch of flowers.
i started with a piece of cardboard which i covered with gesso. next i stamped a french script stamp by stampin up. i inked the flowers stencil over this background and set the base aside. i inked the sugar skull image on orange card stock. i arranged all my bits and then attached everything with matte gel. as you can see i've got another designer card stock, a flower silhouette die cut, and other stickers and bits. the "remember" was written by me.
i've been to many festivals in my hometown for day of the dead. although it is not my cultural background i really like this way of remembering and honoring those who have passed on. i'd love to make an ofrenda (altar) one of these years to honor family members of mine who are gone. there is a nice but on wikipedia about this holiday.
oh, back to the challenge. our sponsor is stencil girl products. as you might imagine they have a lot of stencils and a randomly selected winner of this challenge will get to shop at their store.
love to all.

perhaps he should not have walked by that haunted house....
he was just innocently walking home from school;
but perhaps he should not have walked by that haunted house....
i submit this batty creation for the unruly paper arts reader art quest 2 "go batty," and for the rogue redhead designs rebel challenge "die cut divas," and finally for the pink gem challenge "spooky" theme.
i've always thought this young man from the rogue redhead designs "relish reading" plate looked a little dubious and now i know why -- he is being followed by bats and ghosts! i stamped this frightened guy and cut him out to apply to the card stock which i'd already prepared with several torn papers from a hallowe'en themed paper pack and then had fun adding my fence, ghost and bat die cuts.
i do hope he makes it home safely...

quoth the raven
this is a card with lots of images from the gecko galz company. in fact everything is from gecko galz except the little raven, the black rose and the spider. i've been on the gecko galz yahoo group for quite some time but have never joined one of their yahoo challenges. i created this card for their "quoth the raven" challenge this month. there are two other october challenges and i'm planning to do them both! goodness knows i have plenty of hallowe'en images...
i'm also linking up to craftin boutique challenges halloween challenge and 4 crafty chicks multiple layers challenge.
love to all.

shoes at tag tuesday
i'm a contributor at tag tuesday and the theme this week is "shoes." i wanted to stamp something so i pulled out some stamps from character constructions. this little scene came to me during a half sleeping state when i was pondering the theme while dozing. i know it is a little odd and rather simple but i decided to honor the dream state and share this little parade. the swirly stamp is from past time stamps, the rest are character constructions, enhanced with promarkers. i made the tag base out of some pretty green card stock.

what is your mood today?
here are 4 images from the lunagirl collage sheet called "sultry blue" that i used to create this DT card for the latest challenge at lunagirl moonbeams blog. the theme is "lady blue" and you have one week remaining to enter. cool challenge theme eh? the randomly selected winner gets 2 collage sheets of said winner's choice from the lunagirl shop -- a great prize!
"blue" can be a mood and this got me thinking of an inkadinakado stamp i have which seems directly on point. i cut the 4 images from the collage sheet and arranged them on blue designer paper. i stamped the "mood du jour" stamp with blue ink on some different blue designer paper. a lot of blue! i added some flowers and a butterfly for some contrast and interest.
enjoy! love to all.

use a stencil!
i used to be kind of afraid of stencils, as I was not sure how to use them effectively. but i had to shake off my reticence because the new two-week challenge at the cheerful stamp pad is "use a stencil!" our challenge sponsor is stencil girl products and wow do they have a lot of stencils! a randomly selected winner of this challenge will get some goodies from the sponsor.
through practice i'm finding that stencils can be used in many different ways. here i inked a stencil girl flower stencil with red ink over a piece of sheet music from "ode to joy." the original plan was to make a bookmark but when the squared top seemed to boring i ended up turning this into an arch. of course it can still be used as a bookmark. the cardboard base is partially covered with some designer paper and then i added the torn piece of sheet music with the stenciled flowers. i used a circle die cut (technically i used a coaster but i was trying to sound fancy) to round the top and embellished with some washi tape, the title of the song, a butterfly brad and some vintage images from a lunagirl collage sheet called "fly away home."
so that was fun after all. if you like stencils or are willing to give them a try i hope you'll consider linking up to this new challenge -- we're open for linking through october 27.

cute and creepy ATC
here is an ATC to meet the cute & creepy challenge at wicked wednesday. i colored a cute (and creepy) image from silly dilly beans digital images with pro markers and set it on some creepy hallowe'en designer paper on my ATC base. i rounded the top of the ATC base for interest. i finished it up with bat and creepy fence die cuts. simple; i like how it turned out. i'm also linking up to the week 37 "diecutter's delight" challenge at scraps of color. i'm also linking to the dilly beans challenge blog "halloween week 2" challenge.

lady blue
"lady blue" is the theme for the new two week challenge at lunagirl moonbeams. the vintage image on my tag is from the lunagirl "blue belles" collage sheet. she is lovely and even though blue is not usually a color i work with i enjoyed layering blue papers and embellishments to complete this tag. i even broke out my too long unused magic mesh.
if you should link up a lady blue creation for this challenge you'll be in the running for a free collage sheet from lunagirl. i hope you'll link up!
enjoy; love to all.
week two of the cheerful stamp pad tag challenge
you are invited to make a tag, any tag, for the cheerful stamp pad challenge and there is one week left to link up.
our challenge sponsor is lunagirl moonbeams and i've used vintage images from lunagirl to create this tag. the pink background paper is actually a digital design made by karen of lunagirl that was offered for free on her blog earlier this year. on this tag i've also used some sheet music, tissue tape, leaves and my usual butterfly (in this case a brad from alphastamps.) a randomly selected winner will get some vintage images from lunagirl so this is a challenge well worth entering.

more sweetness of autumn
i've enjoyed making autumn themed creations for the latest challenge at lunagirl moonbeams. there are just a few days remaining to link up a creation and the randomly selected winner will get some free vintage images from lunagirl.
this vintage girl surrounded by autumn leaves from lunagirl cried out to be surrounded by flowers so i used papers, stickers and a cloth and button flower in autumn colors fitting for this image.
i decided to link this up to the 4 crafty chicks fall/autumn challenge and the pink saturday invitation to show your fall colors, too.
enjoy; love to all.

buttons, etc.
every week at tag tuesday blog members are given a prompt or theme to work from and this week it is beads, buttons and bows. i wasn't sure if we were required to use all three and in fact i was kind of blanking on what i should make. i finally decided to just make sure to add as many of those items as i could to whatever design i wanted to make. therefore in the end i used buttons and a bow.
i worked with images and a design paper from lunagirl vintage images and added some sheet music, buttons, a decorative bow and other goodies. clearly i'll never tire of adding wings to things. once you get started it is hard to stop.
love to all.
