The Art of Rice Paddy

This may be old news as this art started in 1993 in Aomori village of Inakadate. But it's still AMAZING to say the least.

No ink or dye was used in growing this art. Only different colours of rice plants used (purple, white and green). All strategically placed to create this magnificent sight.

When I first saw it, I thought it was digitally enhanced images although Japan is totally capable of creating such wonders and they've definitely done it. Now the art is planned carefully on a computer to ensure the preciseness of the plot. But for the first 9 years, the village office workers and farmers grew a simple design of Mount Iwaki every year (I think that's still freaking amazing).

This is totally going on my "Things to do in Japan" list.
