The Fury (Book 3) Summary from L.J.'s website:
It’s happened.  Elena wakens as a vampire.  She belongs to Damon, now, and to his world.  The town mourns her as dead while she haunts the Old Wood by night.  But by the time she remembers that Stefan is her true love, a new and powerful enemy appears.  This is the last battle; and the only way Elena can win it is to sacrifice herself.

Dark Reunion (Book 4) Summary from L.J.'s website:
As a psychic, Bonnie has dreams of Elena in the Other World. But the dreams quickly turn frightening.  There is a terrible new enemy stalking Fell’s Church, killing young girls.  Elena’s friends call for Stefan and get both him and Damon—but whose side is Damon on? The ending is the most surprising yet for Elena!

Review *minor spoilers*:
Wow, these last books in the series were very amazing! There were so many mind blowing twists that I never saw coming. I loved all the action, drama, romance, and new paranormal creatures. I wasn't expecting that Elena would become a vampire or that Katherine would back for some major revenge on Stefan and Damon. The ending of the third was really unexpected, but I'll leave that for you read about. Altogether, I liked the second two more than the first two because there was a lot more action, more of the love triangle, and more unexpected events.

I was really glad both books were together, so I could keep reading after the third one again left off with another cliffhanger. The series is really good, and I highly recommend reading them! The new CW series is pretty good also, but several things are different from the books. I can't wait to read the next books in the trilogy, Nightfall, where Elena and the other characters are back.

Waiting on Wednesday (19) and sorry for lack of posts : (

Hey everyone, sorry I've been kind of absent lately. I have been really busy with swim practice, meets, school, and finals & SATs coming up. I hope to get back on track soon... I will try to have the Real Real review soon, and my contest ends soon too.  Oh and I really hope I can start to read all the books I've been getting lately : D Anyways before is my WoW pick for this week.

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that I'm eagerly awaiting. This week I can't wait for The Vampire Diaries: The Return: Shadow Souls by L.J. Smith. I'm currently on the 3rd and 4th book, so when I'm done I can't wait to read the next one and this one! I was surprised to see the big time between this one and the first four. HarperTeen is releasing the next Vampire Diaries book on March 16, 2010!

The Vampire Diaries: The Return: Shadow Souls
by L.J. Smith (summary from Goodreads)
Elena Gilbert is at the center of magic and danger beyond her imagining. But this time her vampire boyfriend, Stefan, isn’t there to help! Elena is forced to trust her life to his brother, Damon, the handsome but deadly vampire who wants Elena, body and soul. The tension between Elena and Damon mounts until Elena is faced with a terrible decision: Which brother does she really want?

The drama, danger, and forbidden love that mark the New York Times bestselling Vampire Diaries series are in full effect here, with Elena Gilbert once again brimming with supernatural powers.

Friday Firsts (11)

The first line can make or break a reader’s interest. Just how well did the author pull you in to the story with their first sentence? To participate in this weekly book meme is extremely easy.
  • Grab the book you are currently reading and open to the first page.
  • Write down the first sentence in the first paragraph.
  • Create a blog post with this information. (Make sure to include the title and the author of the book you are using. Even an ISBN helps!)
  • Did this first sentence help draw you into the story? Why or why not?
The book I'm currently reading is The Vampire Diaries: The Fury and Dark Reunion by L. J. Smith. I read the first two several weeks ago, so I can't wait to read these two. Here is the first sentence:

"Elena stepped into the clearing."

That is kind of a lame first sentence if it wasn't the third book in the series. The second book left off with a total cliffhanger, so this sentence makes sense. The show is really good, but it is very, very different from the books. I'm excited to read these sequels because so far it's a pretty good series.

What's your current book's first sentence?

Two Book Summary (From Amazon):
Elena: the golden girl, the leader, the one who can have any boy she wants.
Stefan: brooding and mysterious, he seems to be the only one who can resist Elena, even as he struggles to protect her from the horrors that haunt his past.
Damon: sexy, dangerous, and driven by an urge for revenge against Stefan, the brother who betrayed him. Determined to have Elena, he'd kill to possess her.
Collected here in one volume for the first time, volumes one and two of The Vampire Diaries, the tale of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them.

The Awakening Summary (Book 1) Summary from L.J.'s website:
The most haunting love triangle of all.  Two vampire brothers, one good and one evil, are in love with the same beautiful girl.  Stefan meets Elena, and falls for her instantly.  But he swears never to approach her because of his dark secret.  On the other hand, Elena has sworn to make Stefan hers or die.

The Struggle Summary (Book 2) Summary from L.J.'s website:
Damon is haunting Elena’s footsteps; coaxing and coercing her by turns.  Stefan desperately tries to protect her from his brother.  And Elena is having her blood drawn by two separate vampires.  Meanwhile Caroline plots to expose Elena in front of the entire town.  Can things get worse?  They do, when Elena drives too fast over an unsafe bridge and drowns.

Review:
The Awakening and The Struggle were amazing! They were a lot like Twilight, however the Vampire Diaries came out a long time before Twilight. I loved all the characters and the plot. I hated Damon naturally and loved Stefan. This book had romance, action, and so much more that made me craving for more. I'm glad my edition had both books, so I didn't have to have wait for the second book. I can't wait to read the next two and the next trilogy! My dad is actually working on the CW's Vampire Diaries show, so that's why I started reading this book. The show changed a lot of things, but it was pretty good. It seems that I'm starting to read more  fantasy books with vampires, werewolves, and faeries, but that genre has so many good books. Anyways I highly recommend reading these books if you haven't already!
