Julie and Julia

I finally had a little me time today
(not that I didn't have to keep pausing to take care of things)
and I watched Julie and Julia.
I liked it, it was fun, light hearted (no crying) and all girl!

Beautiful grounded day

My school Terra Cycling stuff was getting out of hand and with the weather so cold and rainy (earlier this week) I didn't want be cold in the garage messing with it. Today when my plans got grounded by G's illness and the warm (60's) sunny weather I conquered the recycling. We've already collected about $30 for the school.

Then I headed out to hang up G's beautiful bright red bird house.

Picture to come later.

Hubby found a little tree that looks like a Deer had rubbed on it. If only our dog weren't afraid of the night he could really be more effective!?! When he is out (during the day) he's busy digging for moles in the field. He's driven one into the edge of the yard. I was looking at the 'mounds' in the yard one day when he attempted to start digging for one. I scolded him and he stopped, got that pitiful look on his face and thankgoodness hasn't dug in the yard since. I believe I could become Bill Murray from Caddyshack if this mole gets further into my yard.

I brought up a box of old movies (from W's days) for G to watch. Aladdin is currently playing.

Dream Girls Marathon

Today was a Dream Girl marathon for me!
I had watched the movie a few years ago and loved it. Then W gave me the movie for Christmas ~ I'd never watched it. Today was THE day. I watched it twice. My boys just didn't understand watching it the second time, they're boys......it was quiet, cool and I was alone ...why wouldn't I watch it twice?
I really, really loved Jennifer Hudson's performance.
It's so hard to believe she was a 'no body' just before this movie. She was a natural as Effie White. Yes, I cried at the end both times...something else my boys wouldn't understand.
Yes, I went to church, but it wasn't too eventful.

Hump Day updates

It's summer so things are slow around here, at least for this moment!

W has been at Soccer camp several hours away. I took them (4boys altogether from our area) up on Sunday. W wanted to make sure we got there in plenty of time for them to get settled. He thought it all started at noon. We left home at the crack of dawn and arrived at 10:30. In reality check in started it at 1 and the camp started at 3! W got the time messed up but they certainly had plenty of time to get settled.

He had a great time, I didn't hear from him much. He said they played, practiced and slept soccer. He played to field which was new for him. He really likes getting out of the Goalie box and moving around. W has a quite a powerful right leg on him and can kick the ball 64 mph (yes, that's miles per hour). The ball is a dangerous weapon coming off of his foot. He said that he sprain a boys ankle with his kick. W kicked the ball, it headed for the boy, the boy jumped and the ball hit his foot and twisted it around. The boy had to be carried off the field and rested the rest of the day. Fortunetly the boy was back good as new the next day! This is minor compared to the time he kicked the ball and it hit a girl in the head! She went to the ER with a concussion.

It always good to have him back home but now the laundry starts. You know sweaty clothes after a couple of days just take on a life of their own!

G went shopping today. He had $ to burn. He got a Pokemon stuffed animal and then rented a Pokemon game from blockbuster.

G and I watched a movie from the Red Box (LOVE the Red Box). Spiderwick was great, it has adventure, spookiness and wholesome! I'm glad we watched in the day light! G says that he could have watched in the dark but I'm not so sure!

My current favorite movies

I don't get around to watching movies when they're current but I do manage to get some in before they leave the REDBOX. Side note WHAT IS A REDBOX? ~ you rent for 1day for $1 Greatest thing ever.... OK not ever but it's darn good!
I loved DAN IN REAL LIFE. I'm a huge Steve Carell fan, and this didn't disappoint, but it did surprise. It's isn't the silly, funny Steve Carell. It's about a middle aged widowed man managing his 3 girls and then his extended family. After years of being along he falls for a stranger in a book store only to find out that it's the girl his brother is bring home to meet the family.

BECOMING JANE is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites! I love Anne Hathaway as Jane Austen. (I just love Anne Hathaway) This movie is the story of Jane Austen's real life love affair. I laugh, I love, I cheer, and I cry in this movie. Loving it all the way!

Simple Joy

I love to be home! It's my favorite place. The place that I feel the most comfortable, the place that grounds me, the place that brings me the most joy. I'm a real home body and I love it! I don't think I'd ever have cabin fever, I might run out groceries that would force me out but I just love HOME!
Yesterday I got to stay the majority of the day and all evening, a rare pleasure these days.

The Picture Show!

G and I took in a movie this afternoon.

"Horton Hears a Who"
I've never heard G laugh so hard or so much in my life! It was fun to sit next to him. He really enjoys all the silliness. As we were leaving he said "now let's go buy this!" I think that translates into a thumbs up!

Simple Joy

Laughter is a wonderful joy and this is movie does just that . One of my favorites " Pixar Short films". It's filled with the short films that are shown before Pixar movies, such as Toy Story, and Monsters, inc. My favorites are the "Birds", "Nick Nacks" and the "Tin Toy". They make G and I laugh out loud every time we watch it, which is often. I would also recommend watching the movie with the directors commentary. There are some interesting tidbits that make the movies that much more interesting. Don't forget the popcorn!
