Some Fun...and some Candy!

Hey friends! Wow, it's 3:11 and I can't belive where today has gone! I was fully intending for this to get posted early this am and well...sick baby didn't think that was a good idea! I got home from a little get together with some of my friends last night and Max woke up shortly after I got home. He was up until after midnight and was all sorts of sad! So, this morning consisted of running to the dr., and getting baby all taken care of. He has a bit of a "wheezing" cough again, that seems to be what happens when he gets a cold of any sort! Long story shorter, he is doing better this afternoon and I have a chance to sit and get this posted!

So, I'd like to introduce you to Flower. This is one of the things that I've created the past few days! This owl, is my daughters and her name is Flower. She was so excited to choose what colors she wanted and make her just so. She thinks that this little owl is pretty much perfection in fabric....it makes my heart really happy! I made a couple sets of 3 different sized owls for two gifts we will be sending in the mail tomorrow...and then my girls needed one! I wish I could have saved them for under the tree, but it was KILLING them to watch me make them for their cousins...and they were so excited to get them! They've taken them everywhere and sleep with them too...I love it!
This is Fluffy. She is my little Ruby's delight. She chose these great fabrics (Thanks Jill!) and even chose a bit of super soft minky fabric for the back. I wanted to show you what the back was like, it is the lower photo. Yep, this is what is floating my girls boats right now! I'm thinking there will be many more owls coming...I've decided they are great for birthday party gifts...I'll be sharing more, I'm sure!
I got the pattern for the owl from stubbornlycrafty. I used my printer to enlarge the template I downloaded, and this owl is made with the template enlarged to about 130%. I ended up making 4 different sized owls, but I think this is my favorite size!!
I'll share the gifts we sent next week...they are really fun too! Now, onto some birthday blog candy! I've picked a few of fun items to share with one lucky commenter! I am including a Northridge Media Stamping magazine, (I've got a project published in this one...), a pad of Queen Bee papper from Pink Paislee, some Maya Road rubons, a bottle of Smooch paint and some of my FAVORITE double sided sticky sheets! Because this is Birthday Candy, how about you comment and tell me about a memorable birthday you've had? I'll choose a comment at the end of the day Sunday, the 18th and announce the winner Monday morning in my post!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Sorry I'm later than I wanted to be...but Mommy Duty trumps it all, doesn't it! I hope you have a wonderful weekend getting all ready for the big weekend ahead!

Be Mine..and some Candy!!

Happy Tuesday-that feels like Monday-everyone! We had the kids home from school yesterday and while it was as crazy as ever at our house, I was excited to get some of things made! I've been trying harder to use what I have to make decor for our home. I figure I sepnd the $ on things I love, why not use them in my home...they make me so happy!!

This "Be Mine" banner went together relatively quickly, I had seen the pennates at Ben Franklin(my favorite place to browse lately) and have had them since right before I had Max. I was going to make a Christmas banner...but let's just say that didn't happen! They are chipboard and made by Paper Accents.

I picked up some great new MM valentine paper at Paper Zone on Saturday and was happy to have stopped in on a day when everything in the store was on sale...it was so fun! I am totally in love with the whole line, it's called "Je t'adore". I love the romantic feeling of several of the papers, the and the fresh clean lines of the stripes and polka dots! It's pefect valentine paper! I paired it up with some other MM paper, the black paper is from the Paper Reverie line. IT is SO delicious...don't wonderful products make the creation process so fun!? Here are some close up photos....I used some Tulle, MM glittered letters(YEA!! I've had these for a LONG time!), and some misc. ribbons.

I hope that you are having a great day! I've got a few other Valentine Decorations to share, so will do so in the next few days!:) I started something this morning that I really didn't want to do...I'm purging my craft space!! I've got some things that I haven't touched for over a year...am I safe to help them find another home!?
I haven't done blog candy for a while...so here goes my first blog candy of 2011! It's a BIG one...but super fun!! I've got a product that has only been used 5 or 6 times and is perfect condition. It will help you cut shapes, borders, etc. It has a really fun name, it has 1 Z in it's name(so I can't spell...sorry!)! The first person to comment with the proper name of this product will win it! You are welcome to comment and leave some love, even if you don't need a new die cut machine!;)
Thank you all for being so supportive and for the great friendships I've made though sharing my passion for creating!! I hope you enjoy the things I share...I appreciate hearing what you think!:) Have a great day...and remember to smile until your cheeks hurt!!

Birthday Blog Candy!

Good afternoon friends! Happy Friday! It is a fun and exciting Friday...the last day of school before Winter Break! My kids are so excited for the upcoming days! Our advent calendars are getting down to just a special few windows to open! We've been baking, wrapping, and really enjoying this December. Speaking of enjoying...I put a Pumpkin Roll...flavor of wax in my wamer...oh my...delicious is all I can say! It's really almost making me speachless! Divinity, that is for sure!

So, here is post to share with you the Birthday Blog Candy I'm offering to one of you, the readers of my little spot of blog! I'm so thankful that you take the time, I appreicate each and every comment you send my way. Thank you for your encouragement and support, it is so nice to have such great friends that I've never even met before! Will any of you be attending CHA in January? I'll be there...and would love to see you face to face if you're going to be there...let me know!
So, just a few of my favorite things. Dimensionals from Stampin' Up!, hello, I used them daily. A sweet Beautiful Little Baby stamp...love the combination of fonts on this one and it comes in handy to have a great baby boy/girl stamp! The Chocolate Chip(my favorite color, as you all know by now) strips you see are all punched with some of my border punches..I'm finding that I LOVE border punches and love growing that library of tools! I've got the Apron Lace, Embossed Curve, a little scalloped scallop, a new MS one that is a deep edge border punch...flower bed it is called, and I think that's it...but there are a some edges of each of these listed. Then, a mix of some of my favorite buttons...a great variety! A couple of little notepads from PTI, I love making altered notebooks. And the last thing is right in the middle of the photo, a little key ring calendar for 2010! I just finshed a couple of gifts--and this little cutie was made from the "left overs"...but let's be honest, I could have 5 calendars in my house and still need a couple more!

I will leave this post up and comments will be allowed until midnight PST Sunday(my actual b.day)! So, feel free to leave a comment(just one per person please) and you will be entered into the fun! I am happy to ship this box of love anywhere...so international readers feel free to play along! Thanks so much for visiting me...getting to be my friends and for sharing in what I love! Quick, fresh, clean and very mass producable for those of you that like to mass produce Holiday cards! My first "tutorial"

Ok, be patient with me, this here is my first go at a "tutorial." I don't claim to be all high-tech and be very good at it...but I'm trying ok!:) This first photo is the template, you will need a 10 1/2 x12" piece of cardstock. You might want to cover it with a patterned paper--but to be strong enough, you need to use cardstock.
  • with the paper 10 1/2" wide, you are going to score it at 4 1/2" and 6"**Edited to correct this measurement! I originally put down score at 4 and 6", but Tara was correct, score at 4 1/2& 6! Thanks Tara!!
  • turn the paper to 12" wide, and score at 6" and 10 1/2"
  • for the diagonal measurements, starting at the 6" line, go up 2 1/2" on each side and mark, then to to the top of the template and mark 3/4" on either side of the center 1 1/2" and draw your diagonal and cut on that line.
  • cut all the red lines, and score the green lines.
  • for the green lines in the middle of the 4 1/2" line, just simply cut the lines and then bring the outside egdges into the scored 1 1/2" line, and give yourself a nice strong fold

Once you have cut and scored, this is what your paper will look like.
Add your adhesive(I'd recommend sticky strip/tacky tape or something strong like that), at the edges of the 4 1/2" cut marks. Then fold the bottom 1 1/2" up and attach the long right and left rectangular side pieces, one side a time to the inside 1/2 of the square--then once you've attached it, you'll fold the the rest of the square over, and your middle score line will be a lovely clean edge. Then do the same on the other side. So, after you've finished that step your box should look like this.
Now, take a piece of cardstock, about 1x4", and score it at 1 1/2 and 3", just making a piece to put on the front of your box. With the paper being 12", the front is about 1" shorter than I wanted it to be, so I just added a contrasting strip of paper, to make it the height I wanted.
Now, put your adhesive on the back portion that you'll be folding over to make the holder. You'll want to put it a strip on the outermost edge, maybe one in the center, and then one right on either side of the middle 1 1/2" scored lines. Now add you patterned paper and decorate or just leave plain cardstock!

Ok, so I'm not the best tutorial maker..I am fully aware!! But hey, thanks for being patient!! I'd be happy to answer any questions!! And please let's see some of the holders you come up with! I think I'll do a little "blog candy"....how about this....link your magazine holder here by midnight Friday, and we'll do a drawing for a prize!? How about that!? I love prizes!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
