US2011 - Valley Forge

The picturesque, rolling hillsides of the 3,500-acre Valley Forge National Historical Park was the site where General George Washington and his Continental Army spent the winter of 1777-1778 during the American Revolutionary War.

Throughout the park, visitors get to see an abundance of restored historic structures, reconstructed structures and monuments.

Although not part of the National Park, the Washington Memorial Chapel and National Patriots Bell Tower carillon sit atop a hill in the middle of the Park.

Interestingly, the chapel is today, a functioning Episcopal Church, and is probably the only church equipped with canons!!
