FJ2010 - Hula Loop: Day 7 (Post Tour)

Although Raffles Gateway Hotel …

… is located directly across from Nadi airport, …

… surprisingly, it was not as noisy as we had expected. In comparison, we actually thought that it was noisier during our stay at Mercure Nadi (possibly because its closer to the take off point of the runway).

For our final day in Nadi, we had a quick brunch of Tempura Fish with BBQ sauce …

… and Chicken Curry with Dhal …

… accompanied by a Mocha Crush Chiller …

… and Passionfruit Juice …

… at the Palm Court Coffee Lounge, before heading across to the airport.

And guess what, it was my first time being greeted by a black out in an international airport!! (Due to the on-going renovations, only half the terminal was lit, what an experience… lol)

FJ2010 - Hula Loop: Day 6

Being the last day of our tour, today is the wind down day. After having a smiley egg and bacon breakfast at Volivoli Beach Resort, …

… we left for Ba town around noon.

Along the way, we passed by some interesting spots and sights. First was the Tomb of Udre Udre, Fiji's most notorious cannibal and tribal chief, where he had 872 unlucky victims. Luckily, he was also the very last cannibal in Fiji.

Then, some pigs grazing by the road side ...

… followed by Warner Bros future studio location in Fiji.

And lastly, also the most interesting, Nipple Hill.

Upon arriving at Ba, we stopped by at Vatia Beach Resort …

… for an Indian curry lunch, the best curry we have had in Fiji!!

This was also where all of us had a hands-on experience in making a Roti.

Step one, knead the dough.

Then, flatten the dough with the palm and add flour as required.

Flatten further using a rolling pin.

Lastly, heat dough on the hot plate.

Departing Vatia Beach Resort, we continued travelling through sugar cane country towards Nadi.

Arriving back into Nadi, we visited the Sabeto Valley Natural Hot Springs and Mud Pools. Located at the base of the Sleeping Giant mountain range (notice the face with its mouth open on the right??), …

… this natural site is Fiji’s spa equivalent to what the rich and famous pay hundreds for in the other parts of the world.

Just in case if you were wondering where were the rest, we decided to become spectators while Jerry and Amy enjoyed the pools.

Our final stop for the tour was at the Treasure House Children’s Home.

Opened in April 2000, the orphanage hosts children aged from 1 through to 17, with the intent to ultimately find homes for these children.

After bidding farewell to our fellow travellers, we checked into the Raffles Gateway Hotel …

… followed by dinner at the hotel’s Palm Court Coffee Lounge ...

… with our orders of Tropical Fruit juice …

… Toa Solavu, roasted baby chicken laced with hot BBQ sauce, served with french fries and salad …

… and Mahi Mahi and Prawn, a dish of grilled fish fillet and prawn with grain mustard, served with steamed veges and potatoes.

And that concludes our four days Hula Loop tour with Feejee Experience. Special thanks to our guide Jerry, driver Arvin and our new-found friends for all the lovely and enjoyable time!!
