"You're a Shining Star, No Matter Who You Are..."

It has been exactly one month since I last blogged and it's a little bittersweet. This will be my last post with Style My Way and what better way to go out than with a Tulip Twist! When Robin asked me if I would like to participate, I jumped at the chance. I wasn't really sure how I would conclude my blog and this seems fitting. A little star tank to symbolize my rising star with a new adventure.

So why am I no longer going to blog? Well, that's not really the case. I'm just closing Style My Way as a chapter in my life. I'm no longer this girl. A fashion blogger. A personal style blogger. A stylin' girl. I'm a mama who doesn't really dress up anymore, who rarely wears make-up (or showers), and I haven't been inspired or excited to blog about anything fashion related, as you can see from my very visible absence from the blog. When you are no longer inspired to share things, it's really no longer a fit. And that's where I am with Style My Way.

 This tank, however! Let's talk about a perfect fit. I'm obsessed with it and can't wait to style it all summer long. It's perfect for days at the zoo and farmstead. Over a swimsuit with cut-off shorts. And it would be cute on a date night with the hubs. I will always be a girl who loves clothes and will continue to preach that leggings aren't pants and that you don't have to wear gym clothes to feel comfortable! This tank is a prime example! This is what I wore to McKinley's first swimming lesson this week. At 10:00 in the morning. See, you can be stylish when just sitting at a picnic table!

This is the silliest picture ever, but it makes me so happy. It's truly who I am. Over-joyed to be living the life I am, to be doing what I love, and to be starting a new adventure!!

So what's this new adventure? Well, I'm still a Stylist with Stella & Dot and loving it! It's truly what I needed in my life to feel like I have a career that allows me to live the life I want to live. However, I need something else. I still need a creative outlet in my life. A place where I can share my style, my life, and my inspiration. And that is with a new blog! I am a mama. I'm a mama with style. A mama celebrating moments with my family. A mama who loves to have a "mama drink" from time to time. A mama who keeps her five year old busy with activities around the city. A mama who likes to craft and show you what I'm making. I'm simply a mama and I am ready to blog about it! And it's coming your way soon!

In the meantime, thank you for the years of support you've given me. Whether it was my personal style, rants about what I think is fashionable, my DIY projects that sometimes worked, and simply allowing me to share what I love. It's been a fun six years!

XO!
Andrea

March Tulip Twist

 Dress: Tulip (c/o); Cardigan: Loft (similar); Belt: Ann Taylor (similar); Heels: Macy's;
Jewelry: Stella & Dot; Lip Color: Revlon Matte HD in Obsession

For those of you who may not be familiar, there is a sweet little boutique on the Plaza called Tulip. I've worked with them often over the last several years and I was so excited when they asked me if I would participate in this month's Tulip Twist. I was asked, along with a couple of other KC bloggers, to style this darling dress and I immediately thought of several different ways. I ended up going with a little dressier version that I thought would be a cute Easter look for later in the month. We don't really get dressed up for Easter anymore, but if I did, I would definitely wear this look.

I also thought this would look cute with sandals and denim jacket for a relaxed version later this spring. And for summer, it would be darling over a swimsuit! The perfect little throw on dress! Head down this weekend and pick one up. And, shop some of the cute pieces they have for spring!

Keep it Simple

Dress: Tulip (find in store); Heels: French Connection (similar); Bangles: Silpada (similar);
Earrings: Silpada (similar); Handbag: MbyMJ (similar); Shades: MbyMJ

Today I'm styling another darling dress from Tulip on the Plaza! I love the details throughout this entire piece. The circles and splashes of gray and coral make it a perfect transition piece into fall. And, if I were in the working world again, this would definitely be my go-to for a day in the office.

Styling Tip: When styling a dress like this, keep it simple. Let the details speak for themselves. I went with a ton of silver bangles, simple drop earrings, and gray heels to bring out the grays in the dress.

If you haven't already, make sure to RSVP to the styling event this Thursday night at Tulip! It's going to be so much fun. And, there's a cute door prize at the end of the evening! I can't wait to see you all there!

A Little White Dress

 Dress: Tulip (borrowed); Sandals: Kate Spade (gift); Clutch: My Mom's (similar);
Bracelets: J.Crew (1/2 similar); Earcuff: Baublebar (similar); Shades: Prada (similar)

I am so excited to be hosting a styling event with Tulip next month!! Their pieces for summer are so on trend! You can find something for work and play which I think is something that all of us want in our closet. I'm really into play right now, but I do love a good work piece. And when I say work, it doesn't have to be for the office. A work horse piece, like this little white dress from Tulip, is a great closet addition!

The LWD is a great alternative during the summer. You can dress it up for a night out or throw on flats for an afternoon of play. However, it transitions easily to fall. Just add ankle boots and a moto jacket. So many ways to style! I think this is a great night out look. Add playful heels and loads of fun jewels and you are out the door!

It's Monday and a short week! I can't believe the Fourth is right around the corner. I have some fun things for the holiday coming your way so stick around! It's going to be a celebration!!

Love the dress? Shop it here or head into the store on the Plaza! You won't walk out empty handed! More fun looks to come!

Tulip Team Up - A Derby Hat

I am so excited to be teaming up with Tulip this month! And with the Kentucky Derby taking place this weekend, what better time to talk about Derby Hats! Check out this amazing hat that Tulip gifted me for the shoot. I love it! It makes such a chic statement! I can literally see myself sipping Mint Juleps while watching those horses take off around the track. I've never been, but I'm totally armed with the perfect look for a day at the track.

I originally thought of styling the hat with a simple LBD, but for the Kentucky Derby, I needed something a little more playful. This Milly floral dress totally fit the bill. Paired with gold jewels and fuchsia pumps, this hat still stands out as the featured piece that it is.

And because there's always a big winner at the derby, Tulip is offering up a $25 gift card to shop! That's right! All you have to do is enter the raffle below and cross your fingers! It's that easy. I will email the winner on Monday!! Can't wait to share!

Good Luck!!

Just A Girl....

T-Shirt: Tulip; Striped Tee: Boden; Pants: J.Crew; Booties: Rebecca Minkoff;
Jacket: MICHAEL Michael Kors; Handbag: Pour la Victoire; Necklace: Tiffany's (gift)

This one t-shirt says it all. "Just A Girl Who Decided to Go for It"! And that's what I have done over the past year. I've embraced change, made changes, set goals, started business ventures whether solo or with my mom, met new people, made new friends, pushed myself to network and then work with people and businesses I never thought were possible, all while staying at home with my son and being present as a working mom. It's not the same work I've known for 17 years. It's truly close to being 24/7. My new hours are 7:00 am to roughly 1:00 am. I sleep maybe 5-6 hours a night. And I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

The Jacket: Before and After

Are you a girl who goes for it? Want a t-shirt to show the world you mean business? Tulip on the Plaza is selling this exclusive chic tee to continue to empower women! And who doesn't want to be stylish while taking over the world!?!

Happy Monday, Girls! Go get 'em!
