My Birthday and a Linky

It was my birthday last Thursday and Hubby whipped up a yummy breakfast before taking Amanda to school. Dinner was a selection of Chinese takeaway foods. It was also her birthday gift to me and so she paid for some of it. The photo below is of some of the delicious things she chose for our meal. I also got lots of "Happy Birthday" wishes and felt thoroughly loved and blessed. Amanda Turns 14 and a Linky

It was Amanda's 14th birthday yesterday! She wanted to visit the Cape Town Waterfront, so we took her there on Saturday. We picked Jeremiah and Jessica up so we could all be together. Lavender and Kiss-Me-Quick with Linky

The lavender and kiss-me-quick are flowering like crazy and adding so much color to the back garden. Hubby tried to get rid of the latter, which is an invasive plant, but it won't stay dead.

Soon it will be swimming weather as we head into summer here in South Africa. My kitchen window looks down on this part of the garden, so I appreciate the pretty pool and flowers.

Two Types of Irises and a Linky

Today's featured flowers are wild irises and typical irises. I don't think we planted the wild irises. They are probably living up to their common name and grew wild. The scientific name is Dietes and they are indigenous to South Africa. I also have two Cape Sparrows on the fence.

Mousebirds and a Linky

I've been doing a series on the birds that come to our property. Mousebirds visit our garden but they can be tricky to photograph unless they're feeding on the ground as in three of these shots. If you want to know more about them, visit Wikipedia's page. 

The other day we celebrated Jessica's 23rd birthday! She was home that week, doing her studies and tests online. I'm sharing a pic of her roses below. I hope you visit me on Instagram. I've got some neat photos that I'd love for you to see like Prince by candlelight and the recent full moon.
