I just want to say that I am so grateful for a savings account! Seriously! Ever since I was little, my parents taught me to SAVE, SAVE, SAVE. And, did I listen? Not necessarily. Sometimes I would just spend and spend until I over-drafted (yes, it's happened) and sometimes I would save and use the money to buy something completely useless/pointless.
Luckily, it doesn't happen anymore because I've learned to save AND spend wisely!!!!!!!!!! Logan and I started taking 20% out of our paychecks. 10% for tithing and 10% for savings. It's been great and it feels good to see money in your savings account go up! Well, unfortunately.....our car has been having problems lately so we took it into the shop to get it looked at and fixed before we make the big trip out to South Carolina. And, here is the cost breakdown, etc.
New Battery/Oil Change: $110
Brake Replacement: $328
New Tires/Front Axel Replacement: $722
Total Price: $1160
Goodbye, savings account. We will miss you, but know that we will gradually get you back soon!
WOWWWWWWWWWW! Fixing a car is expensive, but I guess it's not so bad since we don't have to pay $300 a month for a new car, right? And, good thing we had money saved up....I don't even want to imagine what would have happened if we got stuck in the middle of Nebraska with no money to fix the car. All I have to say is that this car BETTER make its way to South Carolina in perfect condition or else.
Anyway, the point of this post is for me to ramble about how much fixing a car cost but to also look at the bright side......saving really does work! It's been such a blessing to know that we have money saved up in case of an emergency (i.e. car problems)! Thanks mom & dad for teaching me to save, even though I didn't realize the real importance of it until now. The end.
