NYC -- Day 3

Writing about this is making me really want a NYC trip again (it's been like 6 months already -- so very behind with my blogging).

NYC -- Day 3
Thankfully on our last day, the weather was nice again! First off, we got brunch at Sarabeth's (recommended by my then NYC friend -- Lauren). It was tasty.

My favorite? The four flowers juice (worth the $9 a glass)!

Obviously, Logan was hungry and didn't appreciate me wanting to get a picture before he could devour his food. ;)

Next up? A quick stroll through gorgeous Central Park.

And lastly, we toured the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I wish we could have spent more time there because there was SO much, but we loved everything we did get to see.

We took the megabus back to DC that afternoon, but not without running into this sign as we were leaving. It was as if we could here Hudson saying "come back!" Not sure which Hudson though the river or our child. ;)

And, that's a wrap of NYC!

NYC -- Day 2

We woke up to rain and clouds. Bummer. That didn't stop us from getting out though.

First stop, we headed to the NYC Public Library -- a bucket list place for me! I am obsessed with libraries and this one is like the queen of libraries! The only downside is that the Rose Main Reading Room was closed for repairs (I almost cried).

Outside the restricted Berg Collection room.
As close as I could get. Ahh!

A great place on our NYC trip!

Next stop? Lunch at Chelsea Market and then walking the Highline, but before that a quick stop to the Lego store for Logan. :) We loved Chelsea Market. I wish we could have stayed and tried every single eatery, but we did get to browse around. It was a very cool place.

lunch at Mokbar -- surprisingly very good!

An interesting water fountain

Had to take this picture for Hudson before we got on the subway.

Later that evening, we got dressed up and walked to the Manhattan LDS Temple. It was a very neat experience being inside that temple. Outside was noisy and full of people, but going inside was peaceful and absolutely beautiful. I also loved meeting LDS New Yorkers in that temple. It's the most I have ever talked to anyone in a temple, and it was so so cool. I just loved it. There are good people everywhere, but I seriously loved New Yorkers in those moments. I love how cultured they are. I love how open they are and willing to talk to you. It was fascinating being around that kind of energy, and especially in the temple. Loved it! I also got a feeling in the temple that we would be back to NYC one day, but not just as visitors. :)

After the temple, we were hungry. Logan had the genius idea to go to Chinatown. He was really wanting some dim sum. Such a fun experience being in the city late at night. We stopped at Magnolia Bakery after and got banana pudding (best ever)!!

What a day! Day 3 (last day of the trip) coming up.

NYC -- Day 1

The next few posts are about our long weekend in NYC (early June) to celebrate our anniversary. We decided early on in marriage that we would take a "big" trip every 5 years for our anniversary. Unfortunately, last year (our 5 year) didn't work out because Logan was graduating with his Masters AND we were moving to Charlotte. So, I guess we will celebrate on the odd years --- 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, and so forth -- because we are so original. ;)

I want to preface this with saying I love NYC and have been many times since my childhood. It is just an exciting place with so much to do. This would be Logan's second time there.

We drove up to Northern VA and dropped the kids off with Logan's family. We thought it would be fun for Logan's family to get some time with the kids in VA before their move to UT, plus Logan's mom was so sweet and more than willing to help!

NYC -- Day 1

We took the megabus early in the morning from DC to NYC. Super easy and quick. It dropped us off in the city around 10am. Time to play!!!

First up, we went to the hotel (stayed on the Upper West Side). Checked-in early, dropped our bags off, and got changed into comfortable clothes.

Grabbed lunch at Shake Shack -- so overrated in our opinion. Great shakes and fries, but the burgers were just okay. Took our lunch to eat in Central Park and then we rented bikes for a few hours and did the Central Park Loop (6.1 miles). We stopped along our way to check out Bethesda Fountain, Belvedere Castle, and the Jacqueline Onassis Reservoir.

Later that evening, we grabbed dinner at a local sushi restaurant (forget the name of it) and I surprised Logan with tickets to Les Miserables. He had just finished reading the book a week before. Such a fun show! Loved every minute.

"To love another person is to see the face of God"
Favorite line from the show (and ever).

After the show, we walked to Time Square and got some dessert (waffles and ice cream -- so yummy).

Great first day in NYC! More to come.
