Hudson's 1st Birthday Party

We celebrated Hudson's birthday with family and friends on Saturday, July 21st (a few days before his actual birthday). There were a lot of adults and kids (16 adults, 5 kids, 3 toddlers, and 1 baby to be exact), but we made it work in our tiny apartment. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate this little boy's first year! We had a great time!

We chose blue and orange for the colors, but went back and forth between a theme.  It was going to be a goldfish party or a zoo animals party, but we ended up choosing the latter. It turned out better than we could have imagined!

My amazingly creative friend, Kayla, made these birthday party invites using InDesign.
I think they turned out so darling!

Birthday boy before the party began
Logan's cousin, Holly, made the shirt for Hudson. Cute, right?

Clockwise from the right: happy birthday banner, orange and blue pom poms, photo timeline from 0-12 months, and homemade animal cupcakes

So cute and delicious too.
She made two flavors - funfetti and chocolate.

Food table
We had tons of food and drinks - hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, fruit, salad, chips, cupcakes, orange candies, orange snacks, and orange soda.

Ethan and Hudson - best buds and only a month apart

About to eat his birthday cupcake

We had so many guests, but this special kid (Spencer) was nice enough to come to Hudson's birthday party even though he turned 4 on that very same day.

Bath time with Leilani after swimming (sadly I didn't get any pictures of us at the pool)

Party favors
Graham crackers for the kids and orange kool-aid popcorn for the adults

That's a wrap (until next year, that is)! Logan has already forbidden me to plan another party for H, but at least I have a whole year to change his mind. :)

*Sorry for the poor picture quality - it was all on my IPhone - but more quality pictures are coming soon!

Cake Smash

It's coming up -- Hudson's 1st birthday. I don't know whether to laugh or cry (probably the latter). It's hard to believe this little person came into our world about a year ago and changed everything. Our hearts are so full. We love getting to be on the front rows watching Hudson grow up. And boy, has he grown in just 12 months! I am going through pictures from the past year to make a banner for his party this Saturday and I am in awe of how much he has grown/how much we have grown as his parents.

Parenthood is seriously the best experience ever. What a tremendous gift! I am so glad I get to be a parent through the eternities. More importantly, I am so glad that I get to share the experience with my best friend.

Here are a few pictures that I stumbled upon from this past year....

Less than a week old

3 months

 6 months

9 months

And now...
he is almost ONE!

Logan's cousin, Addie, took cake smash pictures for us a few weeks ago.

My friend, Cari, made this colorful beauty.
Isn't it the cutest cupcake ever?
I felt a little bad that Hudson was smashing it because it looked and tasted so good!

How did this boy get so big in just a year?
It's crazy!

More birthday posts to come!

Summer Days

This is what our summer days consist of...

*lots and lots of ice cream/frozen yogurt*
Our favorite?
Pairing homemade brownies with Grandma Corbett's strawberry ice cream.
So delicious!

*Staying inside*
Sometimes it is too hot and humid to go outside, so the boys set up camp inside.

*Going to the pool/splash pad*
Great, fun way to cool off during our 100 degree days.

*Playing with friends*
It's a running joke that I like these kids more than their moms, but you would too if you saw how stinkin' cute the three of them are together.
(Disclaimer: Their moms are pretty cool too.)

*Minimalist cooking*
Because let's get real, it is too time consuming to go all out for meals especially when we play all day long.

*Passing out*
Hudson is known to pass out on the couch after a long, playful day.
This kid sure knows how to play hard!

We are LOVING our summer so far, if you couldn't already tell.
