Lest We Forget!

The title is the slogan written on the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne. To remember all the war heroes in the bloody 20th century. Like I said in my previous post. I was meant to visit the Royal Melbourne Botanical Gardens but ended up at the Shrine instead. Standing in there, I got to think of what useless thing war is. All the life sacrificed in order to get freedom. And what exactly is that freedom. This Sunday will be ANZAC day. An Australian holiday to remember those who fought in the wars, the military men, the brave young men and women who fought for not just the freedom and peace of Australia but in other cold and bloody wars and that included Freedom in Malaysia (and by the looks of it, their sacrifices are in vain-with all the political and racial issue that is). Architecture wise, the Shrine of Remembrance is a remarkable building. With the different styles of monuments signifying the different wars which were fought, it is indeed a sight to behold. It was a beautiful day out and here are the pictures.

Can anyone tell me what is this building called? I somehow didn't get to find out.

I realise... Sometimes to get inspiration, you just have to go out and with your artificial eyes (the camera), you can enjoy your surroundings and when you enjoy yourself, you mind will be calm and then the design ideas will just flow. ANZAC DAY! 6 am events... I am game... Who else is? Starting to enjoy Melbourne in a deeper sense.... Yawns...

Easter Weekend at Docklands

Good Friday was the start of my week long Easter break and if you think I should be celebrating, well, you are so wrong. Assignments piling up as high as you can possibly imagine and all are due the week after the break. How great is that huh? Well, I spent last Saturday at the Docklands to visit my site for the final project for studio. I love the Docklands. Its so nice and scenic though it was kinda hot. The buildings there are absolutely beautiful. I did show a few in my past post but this post is all about the buildings there. There will be more pictures of the Docklands in the coming posts because I will be going there often this semester...

And it seems like the people like to come here for their wedding photos. This was not the only couple getting married here on Saturday, I say around 5 different bridesmaids outfit when I was walking around the Docklands.

And at Habour Town,

A pet Dino was entertaining the little children and the crowd.

It was causing mischief and scaring the little children.

It even stole somebody's shopping bag and the poor kid had to get it back... One way or another.

Poor kid.

I'm scared
Stealing from the dino
But in order for him to get the bag, the dino/raptor have to be distracted... So 2 volunteers were selected and they had to do the chicken dance (typical) to distract the beast so the kid can get the bag back. But thankfully he did get it back.

The site which we were given was opposite the Etihad Statium which had a nice view of the bridge, the yatches and all the building around.

But the beautiful thing about the Docklands is the abstract structure/sculptures they put up and also the view of the city.

But most of all, the loveliest thing about the Docklands is the water glistering in the sun creating stars on earth.
Going to enjoy my site, Going to enjoy my projects... Wish me Luck!

Broga Hill

After every assigment (stressful ones), we love to go out and find something interesting to do to release our stress. After a movie on Thursday (G.I. Joe is not bad, but not going to write a review about it. But its a must watch), we decided to climb a hill introduced by Chii which is called Broga Hill at Semenyih.

So we decided to meet at college at 4 A.M. (semangat kan?) to start off our journey. But due to some old habits, me, Sherman, Jess and Gordon had to wait for CW, Wai Sie and Li Qun who were late. After waiting for an hour, the frustrated 4 decided to drive off first without the three and said we meet them there. It not fun looking for a place which you don't know where because we started driving at 5 but because of one miss turn (thanks to the sucky directions from the mamak stall) we arrived at Broga Hill at 630 A.M. but, we were still earlier than the other 3.

The one reason, I guess its the only reason we went so early was because we wanted to catch the sun-rise. Even though we started late, we managed to hike up the hill just in time to catch the breath-taking morning view. The path up is not easy, especially if you are carrying a bag and a camera. Well, everything takes sacrifices right?

But the view was just breath-taking. Can't imagine you can find these kind of view here. The air was chilly but not so chilly after the long hard hike up. The nicee cool breeze in your face, fresh air with the smell for fresh greeneries. Gosh, it was beautiful.

The cutest thing was that someone brought their dog on a hike. It was even equiped with its own backpack. This French Bulldog really got the attentions of all the photographers on the hill.

Jess was the first one who dared to touch and play with it.

The people who went on the hike...

We climbed to one of the highest peak with a path to reach and boy were we tired by the time we reached there but we were sure having lots of fun.
Well, Sherman and CW showing how "tough" it is for them to climb up the mountain. Oh, wait... they were doing the slow motion running thing.

On the third peak, we had a picnic. A mini one that is. Of bread and tuna spread.

The serenity in the hill was so nice. I was sitting on another rock when I noticed that you can read and sleep at the same time. Well, not me, but Gordon. HAHA.
ZZzzzzZZzzzzz.......

The serenity also made us do some daredevil stunts. Like sitting on the edge and do some sketching.
Sitting on the edge of the earth...

I don't know why, but this is such a classic scene which I seen it somewhere before...

*snap*

Beautiful wild flowers on Broga Hill

Can you believe we stayed on top of the highest peak of the hill till 11 A.M.? There were not many people left by that time which gave us even more opportunity to take pictures before the hard climb down Broga..
The steep slopes which were hard for us to climb up is even harder to climb down.

But we made it down safely and it took us half the time of climbing up. In the end, my pants was covered with dirt and as I reached the bottom, my legs were shaking. But I had fun!

For lunch, we headed for Kajang for their famous sate, but honestly, I don't see what is so good about it. And I didn't get to eat the deer sate or rabbit sate because they don't have it anymore...Grrrrrrrr........

But all in all, it was a good trip. Dead tiring but fun.

Now I need to let my arms and legs heal from the bashing I gave while climbing down the hill. Arghhh.... I have 2 assignments to finish and I haven't started.... Ok... Back to work.....
