Intergrated Project Video...

Took me one week to finally upload the video and resolve the audio issue for the video. Somehow Youtube removed the audio due to some copyright issue. Oh well, the new music is just as good (I hope). Do enjoy! Once again, thanks a lot team for the hard work. I miss I.P. Days.... All the meetings and the lunch and get togethers after. Good luck in your exams and final studio work.

To those who are having holiday now. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Intergrated Project. 14 weeks of hard work.

On August 2009, an unlikely bunch of people came together to create 2 companies with the names N.I.C.E Designs (architectural firm) and T.G.I.N. Sdn. Bhd. (Contractor company) to "compete" with 7 other groups of companies to design an art gallery for our clients/lecturers Mr. Keith and Pn. Habizah. After 14 weeks of hard work and meetings with the clients, T.G.I.N and N.I.C.E would like to present to the world, "THE GALLERY", which if build, will be along Jalan Raja Chulan (in our dreams that is) but please, enjoy and

Of college works and updates

Finally, I am home and am able to sleep on my bed! Wohoo... So happy. Assignment 1 for Studio 4 has finally ended. The crit? I don't know. I am just glad it is over. Assignment started straight away on the first day of class. From going down to K.L. to find a pedestrian bridge to redesigning one.
Qian Pei figuring the structures for the bridge

Last weekend, we had to rush to finish our bridge model before we start our bench designs. So the group met in college on Friday to start on the final design. For 2 nights we rushed the model and though we had lots of problems, we finally managed to complete the whole thing by Sunday night.

Hmmmmm....

Argh!!!!!
(Studio craziness)

3D renderings of the Bridge done by Li Qun and Gordon

And my rendering on my furniture.

So here is one reason why engineers design bridges and not architects (my conclusion that is).. The designs we come up with, may or may not work in real life.
Model of my group's bridge.

And models of the other groups'model.
I think out of all these (including my group's), only one is buildable.

Well, I can't say how the presentation was, but I am just happy that it is all over and done.
Yesterday was also the recruitment drive for all the clubs at Taylors P.J., luckily I brought my camera to capture some of the scenes.

Man, life is getting harder by the hour or maybe can say by the minute. Constantly we are busy with one thing or another. And also filled with so many things to figure out and complete. Tuesdays are meeting days and also sort of a Submission day each week. Intergrated Project is fun because the lecturers act like our clients in the real world and we have to think of ways to win the project. Ok... assignment 1 for studio is over. Hopefully my engines have been started so I can work smoothly this semester.... Slept well, now is back to some other works.... Enjoy your week people.. Sorry of the lack of update.

A little bit of update....

Finally, I found some time to update a bit. August is here and the weather is terrible. Haze is here. News of H1N1 spreading in Malaysia, sleepless nights due to the current workload.... What a great reminder of what this month represents in my life a year ago. Sometime these feeling of hatred is like the annoying sound of a fly buzzing in your ear. You just have to swat the stupid fly to stop the annoyance.

BZzzzzzz......

The posing fly
Imagine a fly posing for the camera. Cool ler?

But this Buzzing noise was covered by something else, the Endless workload. I still can't believe that on the first week of college, I went down to the city4 times that week. 3 time for studio to just to walk around looking for Pedestrian Bridges, analyzing the sites, taking photos of bridges and on my last trip down, to analyze an abandoned building at Jalan Raja Chulan with my Integrated Project team for a totally different project. The life of an Archi student, no social life, no sleep. We are basically Zombies or as other people call it, CRAZY!

The trip down to Jalan Raja Chulan was kind of "fun"so to speak. We met on Sunday morning to do some site analysis. Little did I know, when we were walking from Masjid Jamek Station, there was an Anti-ISA protest and the colour of the shirts they were wearing was the same I was wearing, "Yellow"! So, I quick quick walk away before I get myself into trouble. Ok La, the mood was peaceful. Nothing so dramatic as the ones you see on T.V.

The site

On site, we managed to discuss and take the photos and analyse as much as we can analyse from the site and for me, I had time to do some photography hunting of my own. The site, surrounded by trees was cooling and also, somehow supplied me with a few bright orange butterflies which looks striking under the bright morning sun.

Orange under the sunlight
Open wings

untouched
An old match box left untouched....

Moss
Green moss creeping up the wall.

Flowers under the sun
And pretty flowers found....

Guess what came after that? Well, we went back to Subang at 4, rushed to the Mentari McD and stayed there till 2 a.m. and we were there the previous night till 4 a.m. I am guessing that the workers there might be thinking how crazy these people are.

So today, its nearly the end of week 2 and what is to be expected next? I.P. Discussion for tuesday meeting with our so called "Client". To design and build 1 model of a Pedestrian Bridge and also a street furniture, bottle design of Environmental studies and and and... Lots of surprises which I am dreading now......

Rust
Sooner or later, you shall see this blog turning to this......
Ok now.... Back to work people...
