Snowflake

The attraction is imminent
                              An oxygen

Starving for bond & chain
                              A symmetry

Shape of water is pure
                              Ice crystal

As the wind spins & wheels
                             Our arms cast

Hexagonal prism, pattern of
                             Curve to tangent

Moments freeze & dilate
                             Wind, heat, temperature

At flashpoint:  another seed blooms
                             Seeking its blueprint

Yet all of Fate is a tailspin
                             Between sky to ground

My only certainty-
                             In my melting
                                                        you -

Tanka: January Sky

is oyster, pearl sheen
cold blown from stiff blue tongue
on my eyelids, granite
ice sculptured from silt & rain

faint clouds hover endlessly

~0~0~0~

your lips are teal, soft
as snowflakes dusting the air
where grey wind hardens
your hands mellow to amber

the sun thrums above spruce trees

When dawn spills & trees murmur

The morning sky cracks an eggshell,

& dawn spills, fusion of indigo & fuchsia

Frost recedes in slow rain

& ice melts into an orchestra of puddles

The sun comes out for the briefest of time

Warming skin with scent of summers past

Your eyes holding the river & hawk

Spiking the taste for feverish run & motion

Crunching & murmuring of trees under siege

That smell of the feral & unfamiliar

The kiss, that stirs your blood red & gaping

Gorgeous moonlight tracing your lover's torso

Ribs & eyes ache like a lost drum

Take back every cell & petal bloom

Burn the wick, break the brittle bones

The mourning is over like the night

Day beckons, a yellow oil seed

Stir from winter's pyre & fog, thaw

Winter, the birthing

The cold bites
everything to black & white

I know the signs:

A spire tightens around my neck

Knotted of flowers, black
narcissus

In darkening sky
wind stings like a bee

Your absence
dear one is harder than

melting snow

salt-christened, blue teardrop

At night
I lean on your words -

womb, flint, amber

& burn
& burn

Process Notes:   Inspired by nocturne journal of talented photographer Kirsty Mitchell.   She went into a deep depression after the death of her mother.   Fascinated by her late mother's fairy tale stories, she created stunning Wonderland photography.

to let you go

                                                              @ Scarlet Verses

i let you go,
& now the bench looks cold --
empty & stilled by ice

even the trees are strangers,
veiled in heavy crystals
& silent as the cold wind --

i walk along the park,
trying to embrace the moment
of your absence, like a warm
candle light

that flickers my chest,
softer than snowflakes --
i hold the fragments of your face
precious as the sun --

loneliness
sharpens like icicles
draping my morning window --

good-byes should be transient
as winter, a flip-side to hellos-
but i find that
everything burns inside --

maybe i need to learn the art
of forgetting when i remember, &
of remembering when i forget

hope curls like a tiny seed
of spring --

On bed of snow

@ SweetLust Blog

lay me down on bed of snow,
nary a footprint nor faded bloom

my breasts empty of secrets,
fingers bare of ink and seasonings

cover my face with salt and thyme,
rub oil and myrrh on my feet

until shadows flee unto the night sky,
pristine in silver, then maybe (perhaps)

i will hear the silence of your
restless drum

Missing you

first blush of snow
fell this morning

 - the color of sadness
   is white -

bereft of sweat, and
memories of your hands

rough as brown soil
trailing my inner thighs

your soft lips
opening the core of me

stains the bed sheets
stormy sea and darkest sky

- the taste of black tea
  is spicy -

devoid of secrets-
the room becomes just another room

white walls, full of unopened boxes
cabinet shelves, bare of cutlery

but aches - sealed tight in jars
and papers - inked by echoes

of your words, slow gentle rain
on my face, canvas of longing

- without you,
all seasons are the same -

Summer dream

I want to fly back
to pineapple kissed skies
coconut tree lined beaches
home made ice cream and sweet rice cakes.

I said goodbye
my motherland almost 8 years ago

But come winter,
all I want is to curl in her warm bosom.

Why did I migrate to this cold city?

I'm a summer gal.

Canada is a land of immigrants.   According to census figures, an estimated 1,110,000 immigrants arrived in Canada between 01 January 2001 and 16 May 2006. During this time period, these immigrants accounted for 17.9 percent of the total foreign-born population and 3.6 percent of Canada's total population of 31.2 million people.  The largest proportion of immigrants who arrived between 2001 and 2006 were born in Asia (including the Middle East) at 58.3 percent. In contrast, only 12.1 percent of immigrants for the same duration ending in 1971 were born in Asia.

Her arrival

anxiously

they await
craning necks
for slightest clue
of her arrival

her icy breath
raising goose bumps

her cold stare
freezing warm intentions

feared yet admired
she is dazzling with her
fierce ardor

she would rather be
cool character than
a forgettable slip of a girl

here she comes now

ivory veil, long white gown
