8 facts about my self

8 facts about my self

I got this tag from Sharine and Christine And been a week over due before I got time to do this. I normally do not like to list facts about my self because I rarely think of that :) and prefer people to tell me what is their opinion about me ...anyway ..here we go:

1. I am the youngest daughters from my parents (I have one more younger bro, but for girls I am the youngest one) My parents wanted to have son so badly and when I was born my dad had decided to name me "SANDRA" in Indonesian SANDERA means hostage. So he hoped that he will hostage the girls, and hopefully the one after me will be a BOY. (Dream come true after my brother was born, and my dad was so happy and celebrate his victory by naming my brother : Victor Tunggal , meaning: his SOLE victory LOL , finally after 4 daughter , poor mom must going through so many pregnancies and trouble just to have one son.)

2. I am not an organize person. Quite messy. And very forgetful . Yup become mom of 2 kids doesn't change me also. Well I try my best not to forget my children needs of course :)

3. I love animals. I had dogs, cat, fish, monkeys, snakes, duck, chicken, slow loris etc when I was a kid. Shared it with my sister. I still want more dogs. When my girls are big enough I want to have German Sherped dog and one Labrador/Golden retierver , And yes...I want to train them my self. I also still got one more hidden wish...to have a phyton :) but my dh has make it quite clear...its him or the phyton. sigh...

4. I am a very carefree mom but also believe of nature goodness for my own kids. In contrary of many moms I don't mind if my dd play under the rain, or going out at night without sock/mitten (for babies) , I do dress my dd very less specially in this hot weather :)

5. I think because I've been expose to children/ babies from early age , so that makes me very comfortable with children. :) I already become an aunt in the age of 17 and instead of partying /clubbing I enjoy baby sit my nieces/nephews. (I AM NOT FUN AND FUNKY AT ALL AS TEENAGER )I Also help my sis taking care of her newborn babies. They all made joke for me, that the man who will marry me (that time) will be lucky since I was already fully train as mom . LOL.

6. Not many people know that I worked as KindyRoo instructor back in Guangzhou for a year. KindyROO is a program for babies/kids below 5 years old. It help children to overcome their difficulties during schooling ages tru learning and physical activities. And on how to use and stimulate their reflexes and nervous system, and how to give more stimulation from hearing, feeling, touching, seeing and massages.

7.Even tough I married to angmoh/mat salleh/orang putih/bule ..what ever you want to call it.I am still very very Asian and proud of it. I don't tell people I only eat western food, or cook western food or living "foreign" lifestyle. I eat rice, love belacan, love rendang, and hokkian mie, chicken rice etc. My hubby is even more Asian then me. He loves Chinese food, and bakuteh.I even made my MIL buying WOK and cook rice in rice cooker and using Kikoman soya as salad dressing!

8.Oh and speaking of which....I never imagine I would marry an angmoh. I HATED angmo. LOL.
and normally people will be surprise to know I married one. Since I am not the typical tanned, sexy , slender , exotic woman that you would normally see as Ang moh wife. :) I love to be that tanned, sexy, brownish hair, hip happening woman.... LOL but I am just plain me... more to "a-moy" face LMOF or should I say "A-soh" face?

NOW who to tag? hmmm....everybody I know been tagged!

TAG : food from around the world

I got tag from Ai Lian

About what is my favorite food in KK/Sabah. Hm..very challenging. Since I still don't know yet, what is a truly local Sabahan food?

So I decide to choose my newest favorite food . I'm not sure it is consider as local food, but anyway..it is YUMMY.

I choose to blog about : Chicken and beef pie.
I just got this pie last week from Miranda. She ordered this pies from her God mother's friend (correct me if I'm wrong ,Unda). She gave me 4 pcs to try and I just LOVE it and ended up ordering 20 pcs (yep TWENTY). Indy just love it. And since I can freeze it, it will be the perfect late night snack for my DH , when he needs something to munch after come back from the restaurant.

So here is it:
The plain one on the left is Chicken pie and the right (the one with the tiny spot on top) is beef pie.
The chicken pie filling of course there are chicken chunks inside, carrots, potatoes, green peas and mushroom in cream base with a hint of cheese. The crust of this pie is so nice and crispy.
The beef pie filling (this is my fave) got beef, carrots and mushroom stewed in a light tomato base sauce. Remind me of Shepperd pie filling.

When I want to eat it, I re-heat in toaster oven for 2-3 mins (120 degree) and soon I can smell the nice fragrant of freshly bake pie in my kitchen. slurp....

Here is the beef pie. Indy choose to have this beef pie today. When you cut open the crust the filling was still steaming hot from the oven. hmm
And today I had the Chicken pie. But I always add my "Indonesian" touch to my food................................
CHILI SAUCE!!!!! Ok ...Buon Appettito!

Now who should I tag?

Christine: I just love to tag you..hahaha...
Miranda : Come on you are Sabahan, show us the Real food here....
Wawa : some more tag for you...:D

The meaning of Indiana and Maya

I got tag by CHANEL about the meaning of my dds names

INDIANA CHIARA ( Zhang Shen Er)
The girl's name Indiana \i-ndia-na, in-diana\ is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "from India". Also the name of the Middle Western state.

Indiana name didn't even exist before in baby names book. Just recently it was added to it.
We choose it because:
It is unique, It has the same pronunciations in English and Italian or Indonesian.(it will help our parents to say the name correctly and easily )
And it kind of remind us of Indiana Jones LOL , full of adventure. And Indy is adventurous!
It mean that someone come from India (Italian meaning) or The Indiana states in USA.
Other reason is : because it mean for us : INDONESIA ( ME) AND ITALIANA ( HUBBY) = INDIANA

Chiara (KEE- Ya - Ra) means clear, and bright in Italian. We like the name and like the meaning too.

Her Chinese name is Zhang Shen Er. Even tough my hubby is Italian, but I'm Indonesian Chinese, and would love to have my children inherit Chinese name. So she got my Chinese Surname (ZHANG)
Shen= Shen is the other meaning of Shanghai. She was born in Shanghai.
Er= kid. So her Chinese name is quite obvious : Shanghai kid. (born in Shanghai haha)

My second baby is MAYA ANGELA (Zhang Mei Ya)

Maya

Sanskrit: Illusion, fantasy or God's power; also a variant of Maia

My hubby woke up one morning(when I was still pregnant with Maya), and then he said , ok we name our second baby MAYA.
Just like that. Don't ask me why. We had argue for names that we want, I want to name her Dakota( Indiana- Dakota? LOL) but he said nooo way....
So we decided on Maya, i like the meaning too: God's power!
I like it , it sound simple and sweet(just like Maya her self!:D)
Angela = is the name of my hubby grand mother ( she is 84 years old this year) she's been going through a lot and she is an incredible woman and we like to name our daughter after her.

Her Chinese name is
Zhang Mei Ya
Same like Indy she got my Chinese surname,Zhang
Mei is from beautiful
Ya is from YA BI( kota kinabalu in Chinese is YA BI) so I added a woman character beside the YA. So her name is beautiful KK (LOL) as to remember she was born in Kota Kinabalu.
And Mei Ya is Rhyming with MAYA.
Simple

Have baby will travel ? or not?

So...we are back to biz after 9 days break in Bali. After managing my emails and a few orders received while I'm away finally I try to sit and try to "write" this blog.
We went to Bali from 7th of May till 16th of May 2007. We stayed in Vila Puri Ayu a nice quite place in Sanur area. We rent the mini apartment with one bed room, kitchen, big private garden and open air bathroom. The price is very reasonable, the got internet, laundry, 2 swimming pool and breakfast included.
I must said we managed to enjoy this holiday, despite we bring 2 children under 5 :).
We went to most of place interest in Bali, go shopping, spend 2 days in waterbom Bali. And My dh manage to get to do massage and I managed to get spa done on mother's day.

Traveling with young kids is not impossible to do. It will need preparation and a LOT of patience and EXTRA LOTS of sense of humor when everything seems to be failed. :).

I'm not an expert in traveling with kids, but read lots of reference about that (some are lonely planet traveling with kids, and baby center.com )
Week before I traveled normally I will print out the list that I need to bring. This I usually divide it into 2 groups . One is hand carry with me other is in the luggage
What I bring normally :
Hand carry :
Depends on the journey , if I go short flight trip or long with transit. but this is what I bring
1. bottle of water for both of us (3 in my case, me, indy and maya) but since Indy is bigger she can help me carry her own bottle in her own backpack.
2. Some snack
3. Wet wipes lots of it
4. Diapers (if using disposable one during trip it will be much better, but i do keep 1-2 cloth diaper with me for extra) If you bring dispo, you should bring it extra 2-3 pcs than what you think you will need.
5. Changing cloth for you baby and you also if you like ( It will not be nice if you must travel with milk spot on your shirt )
6. Changing pad
7.light blanket or light jacket ( in this case I use my sling pouch as blanket as well), extra sock
8.favorite soft toys, and new toy (to distract in emergency situation)
9. band aid (for Indy)

In the luggage

1. Medicine. this is on my top list. Specially fever medicine, diarrhea or cold
2. Towel
3. Clothing of course
4. Thermometer
5. Sun block
6. Mosquito repellent
7. and many other thing!

To share the trick on bringing baby/toddler in the plane :
I always armed my self with a "new" toy for them. What I did is : weeks before travel , I eat at Mc Donald , I took happy meal and keep the free toy aside. So I will have 2-3 new toys as my "weapon" .So when the" red code" emergency happen in the plane ( e.g: toddler screaming, doesn't want to put on seat belt , want to escape from the plane, or without any reason they kick and yell) hopefully when you "magically" take out the new toy, they will be "amaze" and hopefully that toy can keep them "quiet" . This is a good trick for toddler (or about 9mo-2 years old baby). Avoid: noisy toys, toys that contains a lot of smaller part (it will drive you crazy picking it up all the time)
Other trick for 2 years old and above is :STICKER and Play dooh. The stickers is nice, they will like to peel and stick to the sticker book. And with play dooh they can be busy too! Play dooh will make a mess in the plane , so be prepare to get a "look" from the flight attendant ! :D
PS: none of my tricks are guaranteed can work ALL TIME! :D

Oh remember the "new" sling i mention before? I used it and love it . The material is called 'solarveil" which give baby UV protection up to 75 % , it is very light, breathable and dry fast!(within 2 hours in the sun!) I dont have yet the picture here with me! I will upload it when I have it. And I bring Maya to swim in this sling ! :D

Indy, Maya and Me. in Water Bom Kuta

Kuta beach

Jimbaran beach. Dinner at the beach , facing sunset. The old guy is my dad! He joined us there! Yeah....

Water Bom Kuta

Indy and Papa at the boogie board slide.
Indy is such a brave girl, She play the adult slide (min height is 1 meter, she is 1 meter now:D)
She even go to big slide with out tube and go on her own (not together with papa , since the papa must slide first then catch her when she hit the water! )

Yipeeeeeeeee I love slides!

What's in my bag

Ok, I'm so surprise when Christine TAG me, I'm new in this game...so....here what I've got...

My bags are quite simple and not so well organize like Christine's. WOW, after reading her blogs , I feel like ..ok...I don't plan that much for my diaper bags! LOL. Because normally I only go out for a while and come back home soon, I never stayed all day out with my baby. But It will be good to start to plan now for our next vacation in Bali in May.

So here is my "personal" bag, if I go out without baby Maya

It has: wallets, sunglasses and the case, 2 lipsticks and one lip pallette ,one contact lens case, one hand gel, one toilet seat sanitizer (for use in public toilet) coins (some are Rupiah which I haven't put aside since December LOL), one post register receipt, one used DIGI voucher, one NEW DIGI voucher .
Normally If i need to go out with my baby , or on family day out on Sunday, I will grab my personal bag and throw all the thing into my baby's bag

So Here is what I bring normally : one /two onesies for Maya, plus a shoes, some toys, Sling (red one in the pics), diaper changing pad (black one , can't really see), a mini/regular wetbag to put clean Drybees diaper(s), mini pack wet tissue, Buds rinse free cleanser, mini tea tree oil ,mini bug repellent stick, hand gel , toilet seat sanitizer, snap bib clip to make bib out of small towel , small towelsSo can you tell that I'm a "kiasu" to bring all the lotion and potion? . I don't bring water or milk powder either because Maya is still fully breastfeed. YEAH... and not yet start on finger food, sO I dont bring any biscuit either, but will soon!

Now Who will I tag?I'm a newbie and still got limited fellow bloggers.
ok I think I will tag

My Super mini estore

So , I work from home. And sometimes I got e-mails asking: Sandra, where is your kedai? Can we visit your kedai? which building is it? which area? And I just answer : hmmmmmmm....actually I don't have any kedai. I work from home. You can come and pass by and have a look of my products if you are in KK, Sabah, but it's all in my house.

Since end of 2006, I've been stocking my inventory, and I've been moving it down and up for several times. And finally last month we (me and my hubby) have decided that we going to put it up stairs, and we've moved my computer too.
It will be much easier for me to check on inventory while reading (yours!) e-mails regarding which colors/sizes do I have in stock!
So here is some pictures:

This was what it looked like when I just started. Lucky when we move to this house, it has many of built in cabinet. So I just need to arrange my inventory in to it. Looks much nicer in this pic, but now is much more messier!

This was taken a few days ago! not a good picture... This cabinet is behind of my computer table.

And this is my computer table with "a view" to my neighbor house. My eldest dd is in the pics.
Most of the time I always have Indiana ( 4 yo) near by . if she's home from school, and Maya on the playmat on the floor near me, banging my mobile phone. (with Barney's music in the background repeating for hundreds of times until I sleep and dream with that songs!)

So that's my lil brand new e-store. If you call me and heard baby screaming (because I refused to give her my mobile phone) and some screaming form my older dd , please forgive me...

Father's day

`*~*~*~*~*~*June 17th is Fathers Day.*~*~*~*~*~*`

We do not have any special plan for this Sunday. As usual DH is off only on Sunday. And we just went to eat lunch outside, my treat of course! We ate a newly open La Mian and Xiao Long Bao restaurant in Warisan Square, name TU LONG. (no ,not TOO LONG as my dh pronounce it) with my broken Mandarin, the Tu is something to do with : picture? or not? hehe and LONG as you can guest is DRAGON. As you may know , we lived in China for more than 5 years, and we know what is a good Chinese food and MISS some of it.My DH is angmoh, but inside he is more Asian than me. He just love xiao long bao (shanghai signature small dish) and we couldn't be happier when we found this TOO LONG , I mean TU LONG restaurant that make homemade xiao long bao and la mian in the open kitchen. The cooks are all from Mainland China and also some of the waitress. And my DH wanted to show off his broken Mandarin as well and asked : ni shi zhong guo ren? bu shi Malaysia ren? and the waitress seemed 'amazed" ( hey this kuai lou can speak mandarin even with broken tone!LOL). Too bad we didn't took picture of the food and restaurant. I was always busy to keep Maya busy, She ate the red bean bao! and love it so much!

For her dad Indy already bought a boxer with heart prints and a car's perfume for her dad's car. She also made a bookmark at school with the writing : For the greatest Father in the world! No one could ever take your place!
Sure that card make HUGE SMILE on my DH face all week!!
Indy is his little princess, and Maya is his baby princess.

Since I don't drive here, DH went out and buy cake for himself !LOL .We love cakes in this house. We use any occasion as an excuses to buy cake (including our maid birthday :D).
This time he choose Frozen Blueberry cake. With a choco biscuit crust and the bottom. Very nice and cool!
Maya was not in the pics as she was already zzzzzzzzzzz........upstairs. This is her picture taken by her dad, when I bath her earlier that day.
