FIRST IN MICHIGAN. Despite sub-zero weather in Sterling Heights, Detroiters flocked to witness the opening of Jollibee’s first location in the state of Michigan.

Situated at 44935 Woodridge Drive, facing Lakeside Mall in Detroit, which was Michigan's inaugural capital city, the noteworthy Jollibee establishment experienced an early halt to dine-in services due to inclement weather. Nevertheless, Jollibee Sterling Heights surpassed its anticipated opening-day sales, driven by a surge in orders from numerous hungry Detroit residents utilizing the store's dual-lane drive-thru.

Despite the freezing conditions in Sterling Heights, Michigan, the snow did not discourage Detroit residents, who remained undeterred and eagerly witnessed the highly anticipated debut of Jollibee's inaugural store in the state of Michigan.

“Despite the intense cold on the day of our opening, local Detroiters still came in droves to have a taste of our Jollibee favorites. We are truly grateful for their love and support. We look forward to seeing both familiar faces and first-time customers at our first Michigan location in the close-knit Sterling Heights community, where we can’t wait to create many new joyful moments for those who call the Detroit area home.” ~Maribeth Dela Cruz, President of Jollibee North America

Among Jollibee–Sterling Heights’ opening-day bestsellers include Jollibee’s signature crispy and juicy Chickenjoy fried chicken, Chicken Sandwich (both regular and spicy versions), and Peach Mango Pie.

A long line of people and cars flocked for the opening of Jollibee’s first location in Michigan state. Despite having to close the store early due to extreme weather conditions, Jollibee Sterling Heights was still able to exceed sales targets.

The Great Lakes State is officially the 14th U.S. state that Jollibee has reached in the market since it started its aggressive expansion effort in the region. Jollibee Group Brands Named Among America’s Favorite Restaurant Chains

“We are honored that our brands are included in this list of most favorite restaurant chains in the United States. We thank our customers for their continued support, resulting in this citation that inspires us even more in our mission of serving great-tasting food, bringing the joy of eating to everyone.” ~Ernesto Tanmantiong, Jollibee Group President and CEO
The Jollibee Group continues to spread Pinoy pride in the US! Newsweek, a premier news magazine and website, together with global data firm Statista, named Jollibee, Chowking, Smashburger, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) as among the best in their selected categories.

The Jollibee Group scored yet more victories when four of its brands were included on the list of America's Favorite Restaurant Chains for 2023. Jollibee, Chowking, Smashburger, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) were named among the best in their respective categories by Newsweek, a leading news magazine and website, and global data company Statista.

An independent survey of over 4,000 restaurant chain customers and employees in the United States was used to determine the ranking for 2023. The respondents were asked to name three ethnic cuisines and 13 dish categories of restaurant chains they would recommend.

Chinese, Italian, and Tex-Mex cuisines are the three ethnic cuisines; BBQ, burgers, chicken, coffee/tea/baked goods, ice cream/frozen yogurt, juice and smoothies, noodles and ramen, pizza, sandwiches, seafood, soup, steak, and sushi are among the 13 dish categories.

Chowking was cited for Chinese cuisine, Smashburger for burgers, CBTL for tea and coffee, and Jollibee for chicken.

Statista says that every rating was turned into a score value and added together to get a final score. These nine assessment criteria were used by survey respondents to rate their restaurant chain experience: taste, hygiene, COVID-19 measures, ingredient transparency, location, addressing environmental issues, accessibility, service quality, and employee treatment

A restaurant chain needed at least seven out of ten recommendations and an overall score of at least seven to win. A restaurant chain was also required to have at least three locations spread out across various cities in at least two states in the United States.

Jollibee Opens First Store in Glasgow – Scotland’s Biggest City. Marks 2nd store opening in Scotland in just a few weeks. Jollibee Group -- Long lines of customers formed as early as 6:45 am for Jollibee’s first store opening in Glasgow, Scotland. The Glasgow opening followed only a few weeks after the Edinburgh opening, which also saw blockbuster reception. Glasgow and Edinburgh are the two largest cities in Scotland, and Jollibee’s back-to-back openings signal its strong expansion plan to grow to 50 stores in 5 years in Europe.

Glasgow, Scotland’s first-ever Jollibee store opened in the heart of the city center to a long line of customers, following its blockbuster debut launch in Edinburgh just a few weeks prior. This marks the second Jollibee store to open in Scotland and the 14th across Europe, following a large-scale European expansion plan to grow to 50 stores in 5 years.

A long line of excited fans started forming as early as 6:45 am to be the first through the doors. Over 140 people were already in queue before the 10 am opening. The store is located in Sauchiehall Street, one of the capital’s most iconic streets and an area with significant student presence and high footfall.

Alongside its bestselling crispy and juicy Chickenjoy, customers got to taste the recently launched and already a top seller, Jollibee Chicken Sandwich, featuring a tender chicken fillet, marinated and breaded to crunch perfection, all in a deliciously fluffy bun drizzled with Jollibee’s special dressing. Other Jollibee favorites such as the sweet-style Jolly Spaghetti and the classic Yumburger also proved to be popular menu items. Chickenjoy and Jollibee Chicken Sandwich have its spicy versions on the menu, adding a satisfying

kick for those who are looking for a more fiery food adventure. Both were also crowd favorites on the first day. Like the Edinburgh store, the Glasgow restaurant will also serve halal meat.

Last month, Jollibee opened on Princes Street in Edinburgh, the restaurant chain’s first venture into Scotland. Jollibee continues its plans to expand across the UK and be in every major city in the next 3-5 years.

The new store will be open from 10 am to 10 pm every day, with a seating capacity of 107 across two floors.

To date, Jollibee has over 1,500 stores in 17 countries. Jollibee’s continuous global expansion forms part of the Jollibee Group’s vision to become one of the top five restaurant companies globally.

Jollibee Chickenjoy named among the best fried chicken in US-based magazine in America

“We couldn’t be happier of this recognition, as it goes to show that our Chickenjoy is truly world-class. We see customers continuing to come in droves to our stores because of their love for Chickenjoy. This is also why Jollibee North America continues to do well and is outperforming the QSR industry with positive systemwide sales growth despite the pandemic. We are grateful to our customers and will always be happy to serve them the best Chickenjoy that they deserve. If you’re skeptical, check out this recent New York Times story heralding the chain’s first Manhattan location earlier this year. ‘The pleasures of Chickenjoy, as it’s called, are immediate: The sheath of skin is as craggy as a thunderhead, crannies, and crunch multiplying.’ Uhm, I’ll have some of that, please! Chickenjoy is served in bone-in pieces buckets, or you can opt for Chicken Dippers, which are the boneless tenders.” ~Rowel Vijandre, Jollibee Foods Corporation President for North America
