Yellow and Purple Summery Eyes

Hey Beauties!

Summer is always that time of year, when I see so much colorful inspirational makeup looks and the season that just inspires you to wear bolder colors. I love my safe neutral warm choices, but every now and then I feel like I need some color. Makeup should be fun and so was creating this colorful wearable makeup look.

I always start my eye makeup with eye primer and bone colored matte shade as a base. Then I added warm light brown matte shade in the crease and darkened it with redish medium matte brown, especially in the outer corner. I decided to play with yellow and purple. On my inner part of the lid, I applied vibrant shimmery yellow shade.

Then I added matte orange shade on the outer part of the lid to give that half of the lid a warmer, darker and more orange base. I then went over it with the same yellow shade, but left out the very outer corners. There I use two matte medium and dark brown shades to darken outer corner. This creates gradient from yellow to orange to brown.

Around the lower lash line I applied light pastel purple. I darkened outer portion with darker vibrant purple. Of course I had to finish with black winged liner.

At the end I applied black mascara and added some really natural false eyelashes. I also added light golden yellow in the inner corner of the eye to further accentuate that upper gradient and make eyes look more awake.

On my face I did the usual foundation and concealer routine. No summer makeup would be complete without bronzer. Bronzer is seriously my most abused summer product. It just instantly gives you that sun kissed look. I also applied a very yellow toned light golden highlighter and apricot satin blush. On my lips I used light peach matte liquid lipstick to make the whole look warmer and summery.

I got a few compliments with this look and it's definitely one of those looks that doesn't look too over the top, but gives you that fun summer color. Upper lid almost looks like a summer sunset and purple is a complimentary shade that makes yellow pop even more. I just love combination of these two shades. What colored eyeshadow would you wear for fun summer makeup?

Tropical Eyes Makeup

Hey Beauties!

I get stuck in my neutral zone and I often use lighter shades on my eyes, especially when I have lighter hair like I have now. But since some of you commented that you seem to like darker shades on me and because I've been getting so much inspiration from makeup artists on Instagram, I finally did something colorful again - well colorful in my terms. You know me, I am always more of a wearable type of makeup lover, but that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy combining colorful shades. Today's makeup is just that.

I started my eyes with a skin like matte shade all over the lid. Then I added taupe matte in the crease. I deepened it with matte dark brown. I also added matte petroleum shade to make it a bit more blue and green.

Then I added shimmery greyish blue on the center of the lid, but left out the inner part of the lid. There I went in with shimmery yellow toned green to make it look more tropical and less just blue. I also used taupe, brown and petroleum on the bottom lash line, but only in the outer corner.

In the center around lower lash line I applied turquoise khol to give some life and pop of color. I also added shimmery yellow green on the bottom and I applied shimmery light gold in the very inner corner of the eye. For eye liner I went with dark navy blue.

I finished the look with mascara. False lashes felt like too much, since I wanted this look to be wearable and for you to actually see the shades on my lid.

When I was deciding how to call this look, it just seemed very tropical to me. Shades of warm greens and blues are always on my mind when I think of paradise. Even though this is a bit darker look, I still think it reflects that mood.

Since eyes are fairly bold, I used BB cream for some luminosity and lightness. I covered imperfections with liquid concealer and powdered my face with loose powder. I also thought it would be only appropriate to bronze up the skin, if the look is tropical. For that I used matte warm bronzer. I contoured just a tiny bit and that was my cheekbones and nose. I also used metallic light gold highlighter on tops of cheeks, nose bridge, Cupid's bow and on top of brow arch. For blush I went with a mix of redish peach and brownish peach to look in tune with my hair color and not to overpower my eyes.

On the lips I used a very neutral lighter brown shade to make the eyes focal point. Obviously you can go bold on lips. Some orange reds would look amazing, but I wanted to keep it wearable and a bit understated.

My Face and Eye Makeup Wish List

Hey Beauties!

Makeup is my most sought for purchase and I love browsing through makeup stores. I am one of those people that admires certain products, but I won't purchase a lot of them, because let's face it, I have a lot of makeup as it is. Today I'll be sharing some products that I won't buy myself, but would like to get or are too expensive for my current budget. If you love makeup as much as I do and you have similar taste, I might give you some ideas for your next purchases. Here is my first section of makeup wish list and it's eye and face products.

Stila Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette - Soul

This is a very basic neutral eye shadow palette. The price makes it unreachable for me at the moment, but it's one of those rare palettes that I think I would love. The quality is supposed to be amazing and the packaging is just stunning with gold metal lid. As much as I love colors on my eyes, I wish to have at least one good quality neutral palette.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow - Light to Medium

Who doesn't want to get Charlotte Tilbury makeup? Any true makeup lover is lusting or buying it. I would say get me her whole range, if you have too much money, but I really really wish for that bronzer and highlighter duo. Charlotte is known for being the creative mind behind all makeup industry leading brands and you can count on her for making good quality products. Bronzer and highlighter is one of my very loved products and I'm sure that her version is mind blowing. The packaging is again high end and stunning.

MAC Pigment - Vanilla

Mateja got me tester of this and I love it so much, that it's sitting in my drawer, because I'm afraid to use it. It's super pretty pink gold duo chrome pigment, which a lot of makeup enthusiasts use as a highlighter. I would do the exact same thing. It's just such a unique shade and it's still very light for all your fair toned ladies.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Limited Edition

If you're a highlighter lover, you already know about Hourglass ambient lighting powders. It's probably one of the most popular and pretty holiday limited editions of this year. In one palette you get everything - powder, highlighter, blush and bronzer, all with illuminating properties. Again one of those high end products with stunning design and also pretty collectible product. I'll probably never get it, but I am allowed to dream, right?!

E.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip - Golden Peach

I would use this as a cream blush. It has a very pretty golden peach shade to it and it can be used in multiple ways. On darker skins this might even be used as a highlighter. I just think the shades is super pretty and I love the glowy effect to it.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder - 02 Fair Matte

I first say this at Sara's and fell in love with it. I love the packaging and I really like the fair matte shade. It also has honeycomb embossed design. It's hard to find light bronzer with warm undertone. In general, it is pretty hard to find good, but still light matte bronzers, so I need this in my life.

Kiko Radiant Fusion Baked Powder - 01 Ivory

I like everything that Kiko does. Seriously. I think there's nothing that I don't like about this brand. Well there is one thing.. they still don't have a shop in Slovenia, why?! I would go nuts in there. I want this powder, because for some reason it reminds me of Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders. In description it says that it's a mineral baked powder with luminous finish. Sounds familiar right? Either way, it can't be bad.

Mememe Beat The Blues - Oyster Gold

If I can't have Benefit Sun Beam, I'll do with this one. You know I love highlighters and you knew they'll be in this wish list. I don't really have a liquid one yet and I really like champagne gold shade of this one, although I'm not sure if it would be too dark for my skin tone. The price is also not bad, at all.

La Roche-Posay Respectissime Volume Mascara

I've had their Lenght and Curl version and it was one of the best mascaras I've ever tried. Naturally, I would love to try their Volumizing version, but the price is out of my budget. It's also really hard to get a hold of their mascara's in our country. We don't even have a lot of them, while on their official site they have around 10 versions.

Makeup Geek Duochrome Eyeshadow Pan - Ritzy

Makeup Geek is another one of those affordable and good quality products that are hard to get. By that I mean that the shipping is too high and you we don't have a store nearby to even look at the eye shadows up close. I would probably get a lot of their eye shadows, but there are two shades in particular, that I would like to try out first. Ritzy is warm red brown with a gold and green sheen. It's one of those really interesting mix of shades.

Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow Pan - Flame Thrower

Flame Thrower couldn't be more typical me kind of shade. It's a true warm copper with foiled finish, which to me looks like a shimmery metallic shade.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Fair

One of those products that is always talked about being great and that everyone owns except me. I don't have any particular explanation why I want it, I'm just a little curious, if it's really that great. It'a really hard to get a hold of in our country.

E.l.f. Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream - St. Lucia

I have powder version and I really liked the bronzer shade and the fact that it's a little shimmery. Not that I'm a fan of cream products, but I would really like to try the cream version, since I like both shades and could give me an amazing natural look. E.l.f. products are also really affordable for anyone that's experimenting with different finishes and shades.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal Glow On The Go

Of course I am finishing this category with yet another highlighter, rather two of them. If there's one highlighter that I wish for the most, it's Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in shade Opal. In this travel size set you get powder and cream version. Opal is a very popular champagne gold shade. It's so pretty and I am seriously contemplating on buying this as a birthday gift from me to me. I just hope that they'll still have it by then.

I know, I am so humble, right?! A girl can dream. As you can see, I like a lot of different products. Some are really cheap and some are way out of my budget. I think you can find great products for different prices. Did I get your eyes to sparkle? What are some of the products that I mentioned and are also on your wish list?

Review: Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara

Hey Beauties!

I usually have hard time shopping for new mascara, so I just go with the ones that I know are good. When did the mascaras get so expensive? I don't want to waste that amount of money and then end up not even liking it. L'Oreal has always been my favorite drugstore mascara brand, but they became really expensive. So I asked my fellow beauty bloggers which mascara do they recommend and some said Maybelline Lash Sensational. Since Maybelline had discount at that time, I bought it.

It comes in a pastel purple pink packaging with black writing. I find this to be the usual shape of Maybelline mascaras. It contains 9.5 grams and costs around 11€ ( it was on sale for 8.24€).

Mascara has a silicon wand, which I just love. I hate those mascaras with bushy natural bristles.

On one side you have very short bristles, which resemble one of those lash combs. On the other side you have longer bristles and they are smaller towards the ends. The bristle size also alternates from the shortest (the comb), to going around to the longest. I'm not sure how exactly are you suppose to use this, but I usually use either the short (comb) size or the longer curved part.

The shorter the bristles, the more definition you get and I feel like it does a good job of separating and a bit of elongating the lashes. You can see the photo on the left side.

On the right side is the photo with the longer curved bristles. This one definitely gives you volume, it makes your lashes thicker and bolder. That being said it can clump them a little.

I find that you get the best result if you alternate between the two ends of the brush. First I always use the short comb side, then I go in with the longer curved side and if I stick my lashes together, I go back with the comb side and separate them.

All in all I find the effect pretty good. I have enough volume and the lashes don't stick together. It actually looks like I have more lashes. It doesn't really do much in the length department, but then again it's a volumizing mascara.

The formula is more on the thick side rather then on the runny side. It's also a bit wet. The brush has way too much product on, so it's best if you wipe some of it off, at least in the beginning. I was also surprised that it holds my curl really well. It does droop a little in the middle of application, if I put too much on, but it is still very much curled up. Also be careful when applying too much, because it may fall off during the day and leave you with those little black dots under your eyes.

I feel like waterproof version of this mascara should be the bomb. I'm not saying this one isn't. but the waterproof version must hold the curl amazingly and it probably doesn't have any fall off either.

I am definitely satisfied with this mascara. It's now become one of my favorite drugstore mascaras. It probably the in the second place L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes. Definitely worth a try, if you're looking for something with volume and definition.

Let me know what is your favorite drugstore mascara and why? I might research some more mascaras :).

Review: Born Pretty Store eye shadow brush

Hey Beauties!

You can never have too many brushes, right? I know I certainly live by that rule. I have so many makeup brushes, but it still never seems enough. So, I decided I really need some eye brush for my under eye area.

I got this brush from Born Pretty Store and you can buy it here. It costs 1.89$. It has a wooden black holder, but you can choose the shade of holder. I went for the classic black.

The hair of brush is a bit tapered, it's not straight cut. I wanted this sort of shape to use on my under eyes. The hair is not perfectly cut and some hair may fall out at the beginning. The hair is not soft, yet not scratchy. I would say it's affordable brush for those who are not particularly sensitive about the softness of their brushes. I, on the other hand, love extremely soft brushes.

In the shape is very similar to Zoeva 226 Smudger brush, but Zoeva brush is less thick and a lot softer. It also has white tips of hair instead of brown. I would say Born Pretty Store brush is an affordable option, if you're looking for something in similar shape.

It fits really nicely under the eye, but it creates a bit thicker line. That is due to the fact that the brush is pretty thick from the sides. It doesn't end in a very pointy way as Zoeva brush. So it's actually perfect for smoking out the lash line or bringing the eye shadow further down. I love those kind of looks, but some may not. So just be aware that you can't create a really thin line - like you would with a very thin brush.

I guess I wasn't wowed by this brush. It's one of those things that it's not bad, but also nothing especially good. I guess it's nice to have another under eye brush, so I don't need to clean one brush over and over again, if I decided to use more shadows at once.

I also have a discount code in case you decided to purchase anything from Born Pretty Store. You can just type in PETRAH10 and you'll get 10% discount.

Review: Moon Princess Fashion Lashes (D3)

Hey Beauties!

Most of you really liked my latest makeup look, inspired by Jessica Rabbit. A lot of you also saw how crazy big my eyes looked. I got some lashes from Born Pretty Store and I knew those required some really bold makeup. If any of you liked it, here is what I have to say about them.

They come in a plastic box, like most. They cost 5.47$, which is around 4€. They're not the cheapest ones, but they are really well made. The thing I didn't even know is that they are supposedly handmade. I was really surprised by that fact, but as soon as I got them out of the box, it made sense.

The lashes are extremely soft. I've had my share of fake lashes for competition purposes, when I was a dancer and I have never had so soft lashes. They are very dense. The band is thick and black, which means they are a bit harder to work with. It helps if you bend them a little, so that they bend easier, when you put them on. They are the longest in the middle and shorter on both ends. This gives you a very dramatic bambi look, because the hair is very long. However, they are easy to wear, because they are so soft, therefor very light. If they had an invisible band, they would be perfect.

They are definitely very dramatic and would probably not be used for everyday. You can see here that they look very long and still feathery

If you're looking for dramatic fake eyelashes for your next costume party, then those are it! Definitely recommend them. The quality is amazing for the price.

You can buy the lashes here. If you're up for a discount code, you can use mine. It's PETRAH10 and you'll get 10% off your order.

Brown smokey eyes

Hey Beauties!

Today's post is going to be a brown smokey eyes. I don't know why exactly I'm posting this in the spring time, but let's just say my recent purchase inspired me to a more harsher look. I actually didn't do this intentionally, it just felt right. My brown smokey eyes was inspired by my new skull bangle bracelet. I also really like wearing leather jacket in this fall to spring time. With it I also paired one of my DIY projects, the black and gold necklace. The reason I didn't post the tutorial of this necklace, is because it actually didn't came out as I expected it, but I've managed to wear it a bit differently.

I started with filling in my brows and putting light pink white highlighting shade in the inner corner of the eyes. I put matte black eyeshadow as a thick eyeliner above the eyelashes, then I blended it out and up.

I used dark brown matte eyeshadow above that black and blended the two together and out. As the last shade I put on a light brown matte shade a little above the crease and blended it out.

The dark brown shade I also put on the lower lid. Some of the black went into the outer corner to connect with the top. After that, the only thing missing, was heavy coat of mascara.

As for the rest of the face I left it really simple. Foundation and concealer, a bit of contouring with bronzer and some highlighter. No blush. For the lips I used warm nude lipstick.

I personally think that dark smokey eyes always looks better with matte eyeshadows. The brown was also a very natural choice for me, because it's one of the shades I wear the most. This smokey eyes is a bit less harsh then the typical black smokey eye. It will also suit better warm toned ladies, if you use warmer browns, like I did. This look can be perfect for a night out, with a bit more bronzer and maybe heavier lips. It all depends on your own comfort zone. Ia actually wore it out during the day time :).

I thought it would be nice to include my inspiration for this look. This is the skull bracelet from Ebay - sadly it's already losing its color (but that's what you get for 1€) and my DIY made necklace.
