I bought The Inkey List Succinic Acid Blemish Treatment purely after seeing @cassandrabankson's YouTube video about it (watch HERE). I'd not heard of Succinic Acid before, so I was really intrigued about it! The Inkey List are a budget friendly brand that are really hot on new skincare ingredients, which just goes to show that you don't have to spend the earth to get the latest innovations. This treatment costs a whopping £6.99!

So what does this blemish treatment contain?

  • 2% Succinic Acid which is derived from corn and helps reduce spot inflammation and oil production as well as keeping pores clear,
  • 1% Salicylic Acid which also helps keep pores clear as well as exfoliating skin,
  • 2% Sulphur Powder which reduces excess oil and clears pores,
  • 0.4% Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate skin and keep it from drying out.
Sounds amazing, right?!

The treatment itself is a lightweight cream that absorbs easily into skin when applied. It's green in colour thanks to it containing a naturally derived chlorophyll plant pigment. The shade of green can differ depending on the weather conditions that the plant has been exposed to. The Inkey List have a handy photo on their website showing the different shades of green that the treatment can be, which I think is really useful! I'm sure this saves them a lot of queries from people wondering why their treatment varies in colour between tubes.

I've been applying the treatment daily, sometimes twice daily to my chin, jaw and mouth area which is where my acne is. The Inkey List state that the treatment can be used up to three times per day. I use about a pea sized amount to cover that area. I've been using it alongside other acid products with no issues. My skin is very tolerant of acids though, not everyone would be able to use it as often. The treatment has worked fine alongside my other skincare products, with no pilling or rolling issues. Don't worry about the green tint to it either - once rubbed in, it completely disappears. It does have a faint scent of sulphur to it but it doesn't linger luckily.

I've noticed that the treatment has been really effective at reducing spot inflammation. Spots that would usually take a few days to go down, have gone down overnight! I do think that it's also helped keep my pores clearer than usual, meaning that I've had less spots forming. Very impressive!

All in all, I think it's a brilliant spot treatment, especially for the price! I guess the only slight downside is that if you're using it as often as I am and a similar amount, you'll go through it fairly quickly. However as it's such great value, it's not really an issue! Highly recommend.

The Inkey List Succinic Acid Blemish Treatment is available from The Inkey List, Cult Beauty, Look Fantastic, Feel Unique & ASOS for £6.99.
