Give Away #32 : Hotel Chocolat - Advent Calendar For two - worth £26.00

Together is better we all know that. As I was ready to write a tribute to the beauty and warmth of togetherness, it occurred to me that indeed there were rather to many exceptions to the rule. If together has its place, similarly, sharing can be very inconvenient.

It's never been truer than when faced with an advent calendar. From Childhood we are told to share what is behind the small window, opened each morning with anticipation, but to be honest, it has never felt quite right to hand out the long awaited surprise to somebody else.

But things are looking up. Not long ago, advent calendars where kids stuff only. As an adult, it looked a  little odd when you announced that you "wanted one" too. Then, marketing caught up on the idea and appeared a number of advent calendars containing adult treats.

Great but how does one share each little goody?

Hotel Chocolat came up with the perfect solution. An Advert Calendar for Two.
And now, I am sharing it with you. Not my own calendar, you'll understand. That would be silly. No, you can have your own.

Good luck

Give-Away #31 A SuperFast Thermapen® 4 Cooks Thermometer- worth £60.00

When I first saw the Thermopen used on the GBBO, I was curious to what it was so I did a bit of digging and here is what I found:
  • It has a range of  -49.9 to 299.9 °C.
  • It's super fast. The true temperature of a product can be tested in just three seconds. and doesn't lock-in, so if your cake gets hotter it will show
  • it's 360° self-rotating display automatically turns so the user can read the thermometer in any position — in either hand, left or right.
  • It knows when it's dark and turns on the backlight for you, making it easy to read in poorly lit kitchen areas or for night-time barbecues.
  • The motion-sensing sleep mode automatically turns the Thermapen 4 on or off when the user picks it up or puts it down, maximising battery life.
  • It's waterproof
  • Available in ten vibrant colours
A very clever gizmo indeed. Thermapen is offering one Pebble Soup's reader the opportunity to win a thermometer. The winner will be able to choose a colour among a selection, how good is that?
Closes on the 24th September

Give-Away #28 : A beautiful Hotel Chocolat Advent Calendar

Last minute announcement: the winner is Nia Wyn Dunn

Some cultures are luckier than others when it comes to Christmas traditions. Growing up in France the only calendar we  looked forward to was l'Almanach des Postes. A piece of cardboard with an old-fashion picture in the center.

Children have the privilege to choose which picture will adorn the wall in the kitchen or the loo. The choice is limited, sweating donkeys with heavy loads on their back, young 19th century lady in négligée, that was my dad's choice if I happened to be at school when the postman pop in for his annual tip and the sale of the horrid calendar.

First time I heard about an advent calendar was through a friend from Lille. Allegedly the advent tradition was strong in the north. Almost enough to make me pack my baby rucksack and move.

I have since made up  for lost time and it's with glee that this year, I am sharing the advent calendar good fortune with one Pebble Soup reader.  The countdown to Christmas begins with this beautiful Hotel Chocolat advent calendar. Featuring 24 fabulous Christmas sculptures, including reindeer, snowmen, penguins and enchanted Christmas trees, to name just a few.
The winner will have the choice of one milk, dark or white chocolates.

Three ways to win

1 – Comment on the blog Leave a comment below, sharing your favourite Christmas chocolates. Mine is definitely orange peel.

2 – Twitter Follow @solangeweb on Twitter. If you already follow, it goes without saying that you are welcome too. Then tweet the following:
