FOTD and Big Chop after 14 months of transitioning

Random Big Chop and Face of Today

Big Chop Natural Hair 14 Months Transitioning

Been MIA again guys, sorry. Reasons this time? Loads of 9-7 shifts at work, and then my blog was blocked due to malware on Google Chrome, but I finally sorted that out yesterday. Random as I am, yesterday when I washed my hair, I trimmed my hair quite a lot because my relaxed ends had been super dry lately and my whole hair had been shedding loads.

This morning when I unravelled he twists I slept in, I just started cutting all the relaxed ends off. That's it- that's my whole big chop story lol. I did the big chop to natural hair, after transitioning for 14 months I think. It's funny how the relaxed ends are really in the way when you are transitioning, even wearing a bun was really hard, thick afro hair in the middle of your head, and bone straight ends in the bun itself. Read all my transitioning posts here.

I will do a separate big chop post shortly :)

Today's FOTD:

What do you think of this FOTD?
And I know I've been gone for long, which posts do you prefer on my blog?
Any tips for a newly natural? :)

♥ John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Conditioner, Shampoo and Miraculous Recovery Deep Conditioner

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Conditioner, Shampoo and Miraculous Recovery Deep Conditioner

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Conditioner, Shampoo and Miraculous Recovery Deep Conditioner

Hi Everyone! I am officially back blogging after quite a few weeks (I think, I don't even want to count the days). As I am still going through the process of transitioning to natural hair (read my posts on that here), trying out some new hair products for curly hair can be very exciting! I have of course heard of John Frieda, but I have never got around to trying their products. I was even more excited to read the ingredient lists of these (you know all by know I love doing that) to discover no mineral oil & no parabens.

Here are my first thoughts on the:

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Conditioner: Well to start off, I do wish there was more conditioner than shampoo as I use a considerably bigger amount of conditioner than shampoo. Ingredient wise I am very please with this as it contains Behentrimonium Chloride quite far up which is a gentle detangler and ingredients like Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil further down.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Shampoo: This is a sulfate shampoo containing both Sodium Laureth and Lauryl Sulfate (the latter being the harsher of the two). It also contains Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque: So excited to try a "proper" deep conditioner. I am saying that because I've only been doing DIY Deep Conditioners Lately (check them all out here). Again, I wish it contain more product as I tend to need quite a lot of product for my half afro/half relaxed hair. This also contains Behentrimonium Chloride followed by oils, silicones, vitamin E and hydrolysed silk!

Have you tried this brand?
What do you think of these products?

♥ First Twist Out and Every Day Makeup FOTD

First Twist Out and Every Day Makeup FOTD
Here is my every day makeup look when I don't wear lipstick or eyeliner. Mascara, eyebrows & bronzer. What's your every day makeup?

Flat Twist Out on Transitioning to natural hair

This is how I've been wearing my hair lately. Okey, I know I always wear my hair with my fringe curly but this time I did my first Flat Twist- Out. My back is flat twisted (see tutorial here) and so was my fringe at night as you can see in the picture below. All I used in my hair was Aloe Vera Gel & a bit of oil.

Flat Twist Out on Transitioning to natural hair

Compared to a braid out, I prefer this so much more, omg! Why? The definition is amazing- see above. It's almost too much and it almost looks too curly. Anyway, I still just moisturised my hair, pulled it slightly to elongate and picked the roots to separate the sections. Now, three days later- it still looks nice and super stretched. This is a keeper lol! Can't wait to do a full flat twist out when I am fully natural. Oh btw, I am 2 & a half week from being a year post relaxer. Time flies!

See all my transitioning posts here.

What do you think of this hair style?
Any tips on natural hair or transitioning hair?

♥ Transitioning Diaries Pt. 9: Transitioning To Natural Hair 10 Months Post Relaxer (Curly/Natural Hair)

Transitioning To Natural Hair 10 Months Post Relaxer (Curly/Natural Hair) | Instagram: @Yolandaas

Oh my god! When compared to my 7 months update, it looks like it has almost grown twice as much lol? Maybe the way I took the pictures were different that time, but it has definitely grown a lot. See similar pictures but 7 months post relaxer, here.

The pictures below are of curls from the top of my head.

Check out my Youtube page and subscribe for natural hair videos :) x

Finally! My 10 months post relaxer update, for those who have followed my journey on transitioning to natural hair. I have to say that overall it is going soo well, I am starting to realise that my hair has actually grown quite a lot, definitely average growth or slightly more (it's hard to tell exactly how much it has grown). Of course people with Afro hair or very curly hair will also have a lot of shrinkage, so your hair won't appear to be that long.

Just showing you some pictures of my curl pattern again, as well as how long my hair is in its naturally curly state, versus how long it is when "stretched".

Below are some picture of my wet hair.

These pictures are actually while I have my deep conditioner in, it looks pretty curly, but then again so do my dry curlies :) Trying to show you that my "side curls" look slightly different, I'd say slightly less tight compared to the ones at the top of my head.

♥ Transitioning Diaries Pt. 8: Transitioning to natural hair style tutorial

A picture of a transitioning to natural hair style tutorial
Transitioning to natural hair tutorial, 8/9 months post relaxer

I thought I would share a quick and easy tutorial on how I've been wearing my hair lately- a great style for transitioning or natural hair. The reason I haven't posted many transitioning to natural hair styles is because I don't really know many. You might recognise the picture above from my "FOTD: Pink, Turquoise and Flat twist".

Anyway, as you might have understood I don't really wear a lot of different styles now that I am growing out my natural hair, because I just don't know how to. I learned how to twist natural hair a while ago, but I'm not good at it, now I've (almost) learnt how to flat twist, but only a big one as the one in the pic below. And it's not very neat lol.

A picture of a transitioning to natural hair style tutorial

If you don't know how to flat twist I suggest you go on to youtube and watch a few tutorials. That's how I learned and I just hope as I keep practising I will get better at it lol.

♥ FOTD: Pink, Turquoise and Flat twist

FOTD: Pink, Turquoise and Flat twist

Here is today's FOTD. I am wearing my NYC pink lipstick, Forever 21 earrings from this haul and my usual curly fringe. However, this time my hair in the back is not in a bun it's flat twisted. You can view the picture below to see my first ever flat twist lol.

I've desperately wanted to learn how to flat twist because it looks like such a quick and easy way to get your hair out of your face, which is perfect for me as a transitioning hair style when I want to wear my curly fringe out. I watched a really great youtube tutorial on it, and here is my second try. Don't worry I will keep practising! Also, for my plaited fringe I used the Twisted Sista Curl Activator, from my #bbloggersxmas goodie bag.

On my lids I am wearing two mattes from this INGLOT Freedom palette. I am so happy with that palette and I use it daily!

The winged liner is my COMPANY liquid liner, see review here.

What do you think of this look? :)
Any transitioning hair style tips for me?

♥ 8 Months Post Natural!!

My hair favourites and staples
Today I am officially 8 months post relaxer, this is probably the longest I've gone since I was a child and I can't wait to see more of my natural hair texture. What would have been appropriate would have been a curly length check, showing my new growth, but since I did that quite recently (see here) I will share my natural/transitioning hair staples instead.

1. The Conditioner

My staple conditioner is the Tresemme Naturals Vibrantly Smooth Conditioner. It is silicone, paraben and mineral oil free and has amaaazing slip. That means that it makes detangling super easy which is essential when dealing with thick afro hair. See review on this here.

2. The Cleansing Cream

A creamy sulfate free shampoo- Curls Cleansing Cream. As with every product from Curls it smells amazing of caramel/vanilla. It makes your hair clean without stripping it, and also strengthens and smooths as it contains silk amino acids. See here.

3. The Clarifying Silicone Free Shampoo

Even though I don't wash weekly with a sulfate shampoo- I always need to have one in case I've for some reason used a product containing silicones, or if I just feel like clarifying my hair. This one from V05 has an amazing ingredient list with oils like Argan Oil in it, and is not very drying for a sulfate shampoo. See it here.

4. The Sulfate Free Shampoo

Loreal EverSleek Smoothing hair system, A great bargain Sulfate free shampoo. Ingredients are not natural, nor great but it doesn't contain sulfates and the consistency is not creamy- more like the consistency of a normal conditioner. This is affordable and readily available. See it here.

5. The Butter

You can either use a butter or oil to seal your hair, during the winter when it's really humid and cold, I like spreading some Shea Butter in my hair after moisturising. I also use it when I slick my hair in a bun. This one is from Amina and is extremely soft, see review here.

6. The Oil

Castor oil- The oil to use for scalp/hot oil treatments. Before every wash I apply this, mixed with any other oil and apply to my scalp to aid growth and strengthen hair and edges.

7. The Scalp Oil

As most of you probably know Coconut Oil is one of the few (Jojoba oil being the other) oils that actually moisturise hair on its own, and get's easily absorbed by scalp. To prevent an itchy or flaky scalp I massage this into my scalp a few times per week.

8. The Detangler/Moisturiser

Jamaican Lime & Mango No More Relaxer Cream, this is great for detangling my new curly growth. The second ingredient is Shea Butter and it contains loads of fruit extracts such as Kiwi, oh and it smells lovely (mango/peach scent)! It is very thick and could leave some residue if used too often. For only £3.99 it's a bargain and definitely my staple detangler. Despite the majority of this brand's product containing tons of mineral oil, this one contains no mineral oil, petroleum or silicones. See it here.

9. The Leave-in Conditioner

Curls Whipped Moisturiser. I've definitely got a love/hate relationship to this one, only because it's so damn expensive and when I use it, I use it daily and it's finished within weeks. I pay £9.99 for this one. Again, this smells of vanilla and carmel and contains organic and loads of natural ingredients. None of their products contain mineral oil, silicones or parabens. See it here.

Do you have any staple hair products? Which ones and why do you like them so much?

♥ Transitioning Diaries Pt.7- Straightened hair style

How to straighten transitioning hair

I thought it was time for a hair care post, for you naturals & fellow transitioners :) The other two times during my transitioning that I straightened my hair, it was really random and out of the blue- and I didn't even blow dry my hair before. I just straightened it as it was. This time I took the time to properly prepare my hair to get straightened by deep conditioning and blow drying.

Since the last time I straightened (see here), I've cut about half an inch or an inch of damaged ends. I don't have a set day or anything when I trim my hair, I just do it when I see ridiculously damaged ends- not a nice look!

Any transitioning/natural hair tips :)
Or product recommendations me?

♥ Wash Day- Transitioning Diaries Pt.6

    Wash Day- Transitioning Diaries Pt.6

Although I pretty much do the same every week when I wash my hair, I realised I might actually make a blog post of this to show exactly what I use, and what I do.

To start with, I wash weekly. I use shampoo every week but don't really deep condition too often. Check out my DIY deep conditioner here and my DIY protein treatment here.

    So what do I do?

    • Pre Shampoo- Using the oil mix to the right in the picture. This mix is always roughly a 3rd Castor Oil. I apply it too my scalp since Castor oil is meant to strengthen and thicken your new growth. After that I apply this oil or any other oil in my whole hair. Depending on how much time I have I either a) put cling film on it, and sleep with the oil in my hair. b) leave it in for however long I can.
    • Shampoo- I use a Cleansing Cream (link), Sulfate free Shampoo (link) or if I for some reason have used Silicones in my hair (i.e when I straighten my hair using ApHogee green tea mist.) I will use a sulfate shampoo. This doesn't happen often.). See my straightened hair in this post.
    • Condition- Using my Tresemme Naturals conditioner (review here). This has amazing slip so it's really easy to detangle my new thick and curly growth. I section my hair (not neatly or anything) and make sure to completely cover my hair in conditioner while sort of finger detangling it as I go.
    • Drying- When I've washed out my conditioner, I gentle squeeze it to remove excess water. I then wrap it in a towel, head to my room, then take it off straight away. Now I apply Coconut Oil mixed with Peppermint oil and give myself a quick scalp massage. The peppermint oil will give a cooling sensation while your hair is drying, preventing itchiness. I then apply some Coconut oil all over my hair, and wait for it to dry!
    • Finished!- For my hair to fully dry will obviously take somewhere between 3-4 hrs (never taken the time). So what I usually do is, wait for it to dry for about 3 hrs, and then if the next thing for me is to go bed, I just do a braid out and it will be dry in the morning. If I am going somewhere, I'll just let it dry as long as I can, and then apply the leave in conditioner that you see in the pic (from Curls) and slick it back in a bun. I then apply Castor oil to my edges and brush it back with a slick brush. I use Castor oil because it's thick and gives a light hold, and to prevent thinning of my edges.
Do you have a post on your wash day?
Do you do anything that I do, or use any products I use?

    xx

♥ Transitioning Diaries Pt. 5- Curlies Length Check

Transitioning Diaries Pt. 5- Curlies Length Check (7 Months)

So I finally got around to do my first curlies length check. For those who don't know I am growing out my naturally curly hair (read more here). About a week ago, I actually posted a "length check" on straightened hair, but it obviously wasn't an accurate one since I've cut off a lot of dead ends, it was more so to show that it is more healthy than before.

    *STRETCHED (Oh lord)

The picture below is showing some random curls, to give you an idea of what my curl pattern is like. I actually have some bigger ones at the front but I couldn't get a good picture. For people with afro hair it is common to name different Curl Patterns by Hair types like 3a-3c and 4a-4c. Not exactly sure which I would be, I am guessing 4b- 4c? If anyone think they know, please comment down below.

Obviously all curls are not the same, the one to the is actually not pulled out, its just more lose. The ones on the right, look like most of the curls on the top of my head.

To give a fair picture of how much my hair has actually grown. This is my hair pulled out and I'd say the line where my curly hair meets the straight hair is just below where my hand is, so a tiny bit shorter than it looks in the picture- pretty average for 7 months! There is no point in getting obsessed over growth so I am just happy it has grown at all.

Is this how you thought my hair looked like? (for those who have followed my transitioning)
Any transitioning or natural hair tips/products?

♥ Transitioning Diaries Pt. 4/ Length Check Number 2

     Transitioning Diaries Pt. 4

       25th November 2012                                         31st October 2012

I randomly decided to straighten my hair. Before last time I straightened it (almost a month ago), I hadn't straightened it for over a year. My plan now, is to straighten it every month for a while and show these length checks in my blog. Before, I was so scared of damaging my hair since it was in such bad condition for so long. Right now I feel like it's okey once a month when I use my Aphogee Green Tea Keratin Spray for straightening.

Doesn't it look like it has actually grown a bit in less than a month, I'm shocked!

When I took these pics, believe it or not my hair was (and is super smooth, and the roots are completely straightened). However, whenever I use my compact DSLR to take pics of my hair, it never looks nice.

What do you think of this type of length check (I will still do a curly growth one soon)?
Do you think my hair has grown?

    ♥ Transitioning Diaries Pt. 3

    Transitioning Diaries Pt. 3

If you are not familiar with "transitioning" please read part.1 here and part 2. here. Let me start off by saying that even before I decided to stop relaxing my hair, I stopped straightening it (am. flat iron) and only blow dried it. Which means I don't think I've actually straightened my hair for over six months, or more. It must be long since I can't even remember.

Anyway I randomly decided to straighten it using Aphogee Green Tea Keratin Spray. It is a protein spray which "locks" in protein while you heat style your hair. Since I don't heat style it anymore, or use products containing silicones daily I haven't had any use of it for a long time.

I was happily surprised by the result as my hair seems to have grown quite a lot. Bare in mind a chopped off like at least 2 inches in this post (3 months ago). Also, the front of my hair has retained length for the first time in years, which is great!

    What I'll do next:

    • My every 3 month DIY protein treatment (read about it here), in about a week.
    • I don't think I'll actually trim this time since my ends don't seem to be very damaged.
    • Start straightening my hair every 3 months and do this kind of post.
    • Give you a curly length check (update you on how much curly growth I've got)

Some people have ask me how it's going, and the reason I don't post about this frequently is because it's something the majority of my readers can't relate to. But still something I want to share with those who are doing the same thing or are just interested :) Hence the spread out posts..

What do you think of my straight hair?
It's been long since you've seen it in my blog :)

♥ Tresemme Naturals & Loreal EverSleek Review (Wash Day Regime)

Hi Guy :) I'm going to start of by apologising for a slightly grainy picture- my memory card seems to have broken down so I can't use my camera (I used my iPhone for this picture).

I am going to review the Tresemme Naturals Conditioner & the Loreal EverSleek Shampoo, I am on a "natural hair journey" and as much as I would love to use only natural/organic products- I have now found something in between. The only reason being that organic products are pretty pricey!

These products contain NO Silicones, Parabens, Mineral Oils or Sulfates and they are pretty cheap.

Tresemme Naturals Vibrantly Smooth Conditioner & Tresemme Naturals  Nourishing Moisture Conditioner: First off, these are two different conditioner, the ingredients vary slightly with the first one containing Coconut Oil & Jojoba leaf extract and the latter containing Aloe Vera & Avocado Oil. After trying them both I am going to review them as ONE product since to me, they smell they same, they feel the same, they cost the same- and they give the same result.

This provides AMAZING slip! That means that with this product in your hair it will be super easy to detangle. When I apply this product my hand literally glide through my hair, it's super soft and silky (and it contains NO silicones). I can't stress enough how slippery my hair get's when using this, it's just amazing. In the UK these 900ml are readily available and almost always on offer for anything from two for £7 or two for £5 which gives you amazing value! The ingredients are decent, but hey, no silicones, parabens or mineral oils is fine with me!

Loreal EverSleek (no sulphates smoothing care system) Smoothing & Moisture Shampoo: Me buying this product was really random. The consistency is similar to the consistency of a conditioner- it is creamy. However, it is a shampoo and not a cleansing cream. I would say the cleansing agent is Cocamidopropyl Betaine which is gentle than sulfates. The ingredient list is nowhere near amazing and it contains Propylene Glycol which is not too good. I read some review and some said it leaves a greasy feel (this was what a white lady said, their hair tends to be more oily, and afro hair like min more dry) which I didn't experience. Instead it cleaned out my hot oil treatment (it's when u drench your hair in oil, I do it over night) and left my hair feeling clean and soft.
    This shampoo was around £7

Because these products are affordable and contain no Silicones, Parabens, Mineral Oils or Sulfates  these are now my staple products during my natural hair journey :D

What are your staples? Have you tried these?

    ♥ Transitioning Diaries Pt.2 Trim & Protein

As I shared with you roughly a week back, I am transitioning from my relaxed (chemically straightened afro hair) to my natura hair. (post about it here) I am really excited and I thought that I would start documenting my progress and everything through a new series called "Transitioning Diaries".

This first one will tell you what I will do 4 times a year- every 3 months. I have shared the recipe before and it's my DIY protein hair treatment. (post here with instructions).

Every Three Months- Protein Treatment and trimming of ends

    1. Pre Shampoo Castor Oil Treatment

Before I wash my hair I always do a pre shampoo treatment using Castor Oil. Castor Oil is to promote hair growth and make new growth thicker, stronger and nourished. As you might know Castor Oil has got a really thick consistency and it's a good idea to mix it with another carrier oil.
As you can see I've now stocked up on these oils for my pre shampoo treatments. My Castor Oil is from the brand "now solutions" and is 473 ml (16oz), the KTC Almond Oil is 500 ml.

In addition to that I bought this oil applicator bottle- this was long over due! It was only 99p and it works really well!

    2. DIY Avocado Hair Protein Treatment (INSTRUCTIONS)

When washing this treatment out my hair felt extremely hard (protein can make your hair feel hard) and when shampooing it was so dry that I could hardly move my hands through my hair when applying it. However, after using conditioner it went back to normal and it felt as if it had gone stronger!

    3. Trimming My Ends

This is my hair air dried, as you can see the ends are a lot thinner than my new growth, I basically cut the whole section I am showing in the picture.

Yes, I was way over due in cutting my hair! Look at those ends, I literally felt when I was doing braid outs that when I got to the end of my hair I was plaiting three hairs, haha!

Again, any transitioning tips/inspo/post, link them to me :)

♥ Braid Out & Red Lips

Hi Everyone! This is a scheduled post so when you read this I will be working a 12-21.00 shift which I hate. It's such a random shift and it takes up my whole day.

And I haven't mentioned it yet but I work at Zara in central London since I finished college! :)

For this look I've used Maybelline Gel Liner (Review Here), Natural Collection red lipstick, BodyShop Bronzer, and my hair is curly/wavy from a braid out.

Hair update: So as I mentioned in THIS post I am growing out my naturally curly/afro hair. To prevent breakage and be able to see how long my new growth is, I've stopped blog drying my hair. I now airdry my hair, and in the even I do a dry or damp braid out (which just means you plait your hair in 6-8 plaits over night). My hair is too thin in the ends and slightly to short to wear this style out, it looks okey in the last pic, but it doesn't really work yet. So I usually wear my wavy hair in a ponytail or in a bun.

It's funny how no matter how much I plait and curl my hair now, my relaxed hair (which is almost my whole hair ends up straight anyway. And to think I thought I needed to use heat before when I wanted it to be straight. How ironic.

    ♥ HAIR JOURNEY+ Transitioning? Transitioning Diaries Pt.1

Today I am writing an unusual post, warning for a huge mix of text, baby pics and reviews :)
I have decided to transition- those who haven't got afro hair or haven't heard of relaxers are probably thinking.. okey?! Transitioning means growing out your naturally curly hair and stop relaxing (straightening) your hair.

Warning for long text explaining basically my whole hair journey lol:

Well relaxing afro hair means chemically treating it so that your hair strands goes straight- permanently. It can cause a lot of breakage if you don't care about your relaxed hair properly, or even if you do. My hair has been relaxed on and off since I was about 8-10 (ill change this afterwards when Im sure what age I was).

How it all startedAt that time I was really shy and insecure, I lived in a tiny town (more like village) in Sweden which was not the most multi cultural place. It's fair to say I was the only none white person, which to them automatically made me black, even though I'm half white half black. Anyway, all I wanted at that time was straight hair and light skin. My mum is white and none of my Swedish family have or had dealt with afro hair, so my English family sent the relaxer. Since me or my mum didn't really know how it worked, I just thought it was this miracle product that would automatically make my hair looks like the  young girls on the package (lol you all know what pic im talking about, otherwise click here).
If you know how relaxer works you can probably guess it didn't quite turn out like that. The relaxer is applied similar to how you apply hair dye to your head, only that you have to constantly press and smooth it to help the hairs go straight. It would not dry bone straight and to achieve super straight hair you will still need to style it with a straightener or hair dryer. We (my mum and I) did not do any of these so my hair was straighter, but not at all straight.

This is my natural hair by the way, sorry about the baby pic.

After that I don't really remember, but shortly after that I started to visit my English family yearly so I  think I had my hair relaxed at the salon when I was there. That might have been a few year after when I was a bit older. At this time I was only wearing my hair up in a pony tail, yes always! And it was super long. I had it straightened a few times at the salon in England and my hair was super long! Almost down to my breast (I dont know how else to describe it)
When I was around 13 or 12 my hair I still only wore my hair in a pony tail, I was to self conscious about my hair. I discovered hair straighteners and started to straighten it almost every day- but still wore it up! When I was 14, I moved to a new city and for the first time in about 5 years, I wore my hair out. This was a big deal to me lol.

My hair was now it's shortest in a long time! A couple of years before this, my hair was twice the length.

During my next visit to England a hair dresser cut (in my opinion) way too much of my hair off. To be honest, that's when my hair stopped retaining length ( I say this because it was obviously growing, but it was breaking more- hence it did not look longer). I was now wearing my hair out every day and straightening it.
When I was 15 I started to visit my child hood friend (more like family) more often when I was in England, and she had started to wear weave (sew in hair extensions). Her hair was long and straight and it looked really natural. I had it done during my next visit and I was hooked!
Now I was wearing tracks (which is not a full weave, the rest of your hair is still left out) and straightening my hair. Since I had never felt happy with my own hair I was now hooked on wearing weave. I would leave it in for way too long, up to 5 months, then get it done when I was back in London.

I now committed every single relaxed hair crime lol. I took it out myself (cut the threads of the weave myself), then without any treatments or leaving my hair, I headed back to the salon to get my hair relaxed (only like a day after taking out my weave) and had them sew in new weave! This is really really bad. You should leave your hair at least 1-2 weeks on it's own after having weave sewn in. I knew this, but didn't care because I now felt I couldn't wear my hair without weave, same was as before I felt I couldn't wear my natural hair out without putting it in a ponytail.I don't regret it at all, the only thing to regret is how insecure I was at that time.

In the first pic I am wearing tracks. In the second GLUED in hair extensions.

    Around 15 years old.

Here I am wearing weave, AND glued in hair extension (mainly used by white people, because imagine how that tangles in the afro growing out?!). That was crazy. Oh and I had dyed my hair black here.

    Around 16 years old.

I wore weaves until I was like 17 or 18, and then decided to leave my hair alone and try to grow it out, but still relaxing it. Since I started this blog I've just been leaving my hair alone, hence all the pony tail looks!

Except when I was really young I've always loved curly hair, and every time I see my hair growing out I've been thinking about transitioning. The last time I relaxed my hair was 3 months ago, and before that I was already thinking about transitioning. I found that it was too much of a hassle and my regrowth was too tangly.

But then again, I wasn't detangling my hair at all so it makes sense it would be knotty.
I decided to transition about 3 days ago, and I won't change my mind. Sometimes I'm really spontaneous, but not in a way that I change my mind. I just make my mind up really sudden lol.

My hair regime will kind of be the same, except I'll stop blow drying my hair completely, to prevent breakage and to be able to see my new growth. I had a sample of this product before I decided to transition and I still really liked it. It's meant to detangle your new growth and moisturise it.

I really like it and it makes detangling a lot easier.

I haven't tried this brand before but I've now checked out their other products, they all contain mineral oil and other bad stuff! The ingredient list in this is fine, but not amazing.. it contains quite a lot of Shea Butter which is the second ingredient.

It smells of mango and lime, the smell is amazing! This is what it looks like.

    Any transitioning tips for me?
