Top Reviewed and Recommended Beauty Products

- This post features some products that were gifted and some which were bought. I will mark each gifted product with a gifted tag. It also features affiliate links and to other posts with affiliate links. -

Hi guys! I thought I’d do something a little different this week as I’m feeling a bit physically run down and wanted to write something nice and positive. So, I’ve decided to look back at some of my old posts and talk about which products are my favourites, still use, any changed thoughts and any other posts I’d love for you to read.

I’m going to look back at what I think is one of the best lipsticks of all time, a fab supplement to battle weak nails, lifeless hair and bad skin, a mascara that gives insane volume and more.

See this as the perfect Sunday evening blog-read-athon post. Get yourself a cup of tea, cuddle up under a blanket and lets get reading!

Top Beauty Products of 2015

*
So here we are! We have reached the end of 2015, so that means that it is time to discuss what beauty products have impressed us the most this year.

As I did last year, I have compiled a list of products that I have throughout the year and have loved. They may not have been originally released this year, but they were tested and written about on the blog over the course of 2015.

It's been a difficult list to come up with as there are so many stand outs for me, but I've managed to whittle it down into a list of 9 products (including 1 Children's product) for your viewing pleasure.

Don't forget to get down to the end of the list to see what my ultimate top product of 2015 is and to let me know what your favourites are too!

So without any further delay, let's take a look at the list.

Lush Let The Good Times Roll review

Let The Good Times Roll by Lush is an exfoliating face and body cleanser that contains polenta, maize flour, cinnamon powder, corn oil and popcorn. It is also vegan friendly.

Whilst the polenta and maize flour exfoliate, cinnamon powder revives and stimulates. The final result is fresh, soft and glowing skin.

Lush Let The Good Times Roll

It comes packaged in a typical black, Lush branded pot with a screw cap lid that holds 100g or 250g of cleanser. As with other Lush products, if you take back five Lush pots or tubes to any of their stores then you will receive a free Fresh mask.

Lush Bath Bombs - Secret Garden and Rose Queen reviews

Lush is a cosmetic company that provide an entire range of handmade products, from bar soaps to bath bombs, perfume to makeup, Lush’s collection is huge. If you haven’t already heard of them then I am admittedly incredibly surprised.

One of the most exciting range of products available at Lush is their bath bombs. With quirky names and colours, every bath bomb is designed to fit a different need or purpose. Each one includes natural essential oils and some include little surprises such as flower petals or extra layers.

Today I have two of these bath bombs to discuss, demonstrate and review: Secret Garden from the Mother’s Day range and Rose Queen. They have a lot of similarities, both being floral-themed/scented bombs with extra surprises, so I felt that putting them in a post together made sense!

(In addition to this review, there will be future Lush bath bomb posts on the way also!)

Lush King of Skin review

King of Skin by Lush is a solid bar body butter that is packed with bananas, oatmilk, avocados, essential oils and butters to help nourish and re-hydrate the skin.

Banana's have a natural emollient whilst avocado's provide nourishment for the skin. Oatmilk acts as an antihistamine and the cocoa butter helps the skin to feel really soft and conditioned.

It is shaped like a crown and is pale yellow in colour. It also has the scent of cocoa-buttery bananas!

If you are a frequent reader of the blog, you may be thinking "another Lush post!?" at this point. Admittedly I have been on a bit of a rekindled Lush hype recently, but there is more about this product and to this review than a little bit of hype.

King of Skin has been one of my favourite Lush products since the day that I first tried it a few years ago. If anybody ever asks me what Lush products to try, I always suggest this one. Therefore, today's review is going to explain exactly why.

Lush Cosmic Gift Set - Twilight Bath Bomb & Rock Star Soap review

The Lush Cosmic Gift Set is a duo of Lush products consisting of their Twilight Bath Bomb and Rock Star Soap. Together they fit the 'cosmic' theme by them both being styled around stars.

Lush Cosmic Gift Set

The Twilight Bath Bomb is designed to help you relax and get a good nights sleep. It begins by fizzing away with the colour of the setting sun and it gradually turns darker, leaving the bath water purple with sparkling glitter.

Rock Star is a very sweet smelling, pink bar soap that contains Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute. In the Cosmic set, the soap comes in the shape of a star rather than a block. It is designed to smell like seaside rock.

I received this gift set from my best friend for Christmas (Jess from Missnoodlebug - go and check out her blog!), so I wanted to review it for you all!

Lush Movis Face Wash review

Movis by Lush is a wheaty, squidgy facial wash bar that was created to help exfoliate, revive and soften the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. Aesthetically it is designed to look like a loaf of bread (if you couldn’t guess from the pun-based name), but the soap actually also contains wholemeal bread as an exfoliator.

Lush Movis Face Cleanser

In addition to wholemeal bread, Movis also includes Fair Trade organic cocoa butter, wheatgerm oil, extra virgin coconut oil and hop oil.

It is inspired by Lush co-founder Mo Constantine's love of baking and soap alchemy and it contains no petrochemicals, animal fats, palm oil or SLS and it isn’t tested on animals.

Top 6 Facial Washes for Oily, Blemish-Prone Skin

Top 6 Facial Washes for Oily, Blemish-Prone Skin

Oily & blemish-prone skin can be a total nightmare to have to live with. You constantly try out different skincare products such as face washes, toners and moisturiers to find your holy grail product, but you may find that time after time you aren’t getting anywhere. Also, when you have less time to spend on things such as makeup to disguise particular skin conditions, clearing up your skin can turn into a real timesaver.

Over the years, I have reached my own conclusion regarding skincare for blemish prone skin: what works brilliantly for one may only work out as ‘so-so' for another, and vice versa. I've also learnt that that's okay, but it can take time to discover your personal holy grail product.

I have tried out more face washes and treatments than I dare to count. Whilst I found some of them to do virtually nothing for my skin, there were a few that showed some results. These are the products that I have compiled into a list just for you, hoping that you may find your perfect face wash to finally help you get clearer skin!

You might have tried some of them, loved them or despised them, but I do think that they are worth a try if you haven't already given them a go. You may find a new favourite, or maybe even your new miracle wash!

So here we have it: the Top 6 Facial Washes for Oily, Blemish-Prone Skin.

DIY Beauty - Multi-purpose balm

Have you ever considered making your own skincare products? Just think about it; skincare that you can be sure only includes the things that you want. 100% natural, organic or as synthetic as you like. And you get to feel like you have accomplished something. Sound good? Then read on!*

A while back, I wrote a post about essential oils that included advice and uses for them from Paul at Freshskin. I also posted a couple of pieces discussing One Love Organics Skin Savior (with a quick mention of Lush’s Ultrabland), Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish and Burt’s Bees Cuticle Cream. Taking most of my inspiration from OLO’s Skin Savior (in regards to the multi-purpose aspect) as well as inspiration from Cleanse & Polish, Ultrabland and the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, I placed an order at Freshskin to attempt creating my own multi-purpose balm.

Along with this I was inspired by Liz Earle’s Super Skin Concentrate - which I have used in the past - to create a nice facial oil.

Over the next couple of posts I am going to discuss my methods for making both of these products. I’m going to start off by discussing the balm, how I made it, how it worked and how it stands up in comparison to the aforementioned inspirational products. In my next post, I will be discussing the same things but with the facial oil.

*Before starting, I would like to clarify that I am not an expert in aromatherapy or producing skincare products but I do enjoy experimenting with my own blends.  Any recipe that has been posted on my blog has been tested out by myself before even being considered as a post. However, if you do have any bad reactions to any DIY recipe posted here, please stop using the product straight away. Also, please do keep essential oil safety in mind when applying them anywhere!
