Donegal ... párús < parrdhas", and especially page 102; Unstressed /i: u:/ is kept long (or made half-long) in "outer Ulster" (S. Donegal, N. W. Cavan, and N. Meath). They became short only in "inner Ulster", i.e. N. Donegal, Antrim, S. Armagh, S. E. Monaghan, and N. Louth.
