Merge

[edit]

I vote that we merge this with plumbline, and preferably keep that name as it seems more common. The other uses are marginal (and derivative), so it seems wiser to make this the main page. Drernie 15:06, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vote against. It is not a more common name IME, and plumb bob (should not be hyphenated!) relates nicely to Bob (physics) and Pendulum. --Belg4mit 18:29, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Using a free plumb-bob

[edit]

What is the point of this image? The caption really doesn't help much, and I don't see the point of showing a magically slackening string. --Belg4mit 18:29, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Sims

[edit]

the article should have a link or a reference to the sims or the sims 2 as the diamond above the sims head is referred to as a plumb bob. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.104.170.71 (talk) 10:49, August 24, 2007 (UTC)

This reference to the Sims should be removed entirely - because it is stupid and irrelevant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.215.33.194 (talk) 15:00, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's a bit rude, and also inaccurate; it's hardly "irrelevant", as The Sims games are hugely popular. If not mentioned in the article, it should at least be mentioned in a hatnote pointing to the appropriate article. V2Blast (talk) 00:30, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pseudoscience

[edit]

Is there any support (beyond this [1]) that dangling a plumb bob is an "established" practice for "determining" the sex of an unborn child? And while we're at it, can we find something pointing out why it's clearly misguided? 24.6.187.181 (talk) 18:28, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Consistency – plumb bob or plumb-bob?

[edit]

This article is not consistent – is it a plumb bob or a plumb-bob? (Yes, of course, but which?) Thoughts? CampWood (talk) 02:08, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. This was a simple matter of looking up the term in a dictionary.—Anita5192 (talk) 03:20, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
