Baroclinic instability and Baroclinic vector be merged into this article or section.

[edit]

Somebody else suggested it...looks like a good idea, but keep each article and turn it into a subsection of this article. --Hard Raspy Sci 17:47, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Barring substantial expansion of respective articles, I agree with the merger, and also agree that all non-superfluous information should be retained. Evolauxia 15:01, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image text colour

The cyan text on the image in unfortunately unreadable. 78.144.72.141 (talk) 04:49, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Diagram needed

[edit]

It would be helpful to show how the vertical gradients translate into horizontal motion, and then rotation. An animation might be even better. -- Beland (talk) 03:24, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The vertical variation of geostrophic wind in a barotropic atmosphere (a) and in a baroclinic atmosphere (b). The blue portion of the surface denotes a cold region while the orange portion denotes a warm region.
@Beland; You might find what you want here. I know it isn't what you asked for, but is this file also useful? An image which contrasted baroclinic and barotropic might be helpful. HLHJ (talk) 09:38, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the pointers, but I'm afraid I don't see anything of use in that category. The image to the right doesn't make much sense to me...it's hard to tell which direction the arrows are physically pointing, and the notation and black lines are not explained. -- Beland (talk) 07:15, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
