Anubis Iao (born May 16, 1999) is a Chinese guqin musician and entrepreneur. [1][2]Chief Executive Director of China KD Fashion Limited. [3]Born to a philanthropist family, she is the daughter of a Chinese entrepreneur of the fashion industry. [4]

Iao is the official ambassador of Hengqin city, a prefecture-level city and special economic zone in Guangdong Province of the People's Republic of China, starting from 2023. [5]She served as the Chinese Cultural Envoy for the Embassy of Pakistan in China as well as the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in China.[6]

She is also a speaker at the Macau Polytechnic University and a cooperation expert of the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department(HKCSD).[7]

Early years

Iao was born in Macau SAR, China. She attended Santa Rosa English Secondary School in Macau and went abroad at the age of 17.[8] She attended CATS College London for university foundation, and studied at the London School of Economics and the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. In 2021 she graduated with a history degree in King's College London. [9]

Won the Macau Composers, Authors and Publishers Association (MACA) Music Scholarship,[10] the Macau Education and Youth Bureau Higher Education Scholarship and the Macau Education and Youth Bureau Tertiary Scholarship[11], and was approved for the Culture and Art Study Scholarship. She started learning harp at the age of 10,[12] and guqin at the age of 15 under Dr. Tang Jianyuan.[13][14]

Cultural status

She gained initial recognition as the Chinese cultural ambassador in the United Kingdom from 2018-2020. She appeared in concerts at the Edric Theater of London South Bank University, the Bush House Auditorium of King's College London and the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London. [15]She was the guest performer of the King's Voice 2018, Burgh House and Hampstead Museum, and was selected as the British-Chinese Musician of the Year.[16]

Teaching

Iao has given masterclasses at the Macau Polytechnic University in 2023.[19] She additionally holds regular masterclasses at Hengqin Primary School and several organisations in the Greater Area Bay.[20]
