Global lock for 星辰之叹

[edit]

Long-term abuse. please,I can't edit in Steward requests/Global,only here. ——星辰之叹 (talk) 06:12, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@星辰之叹: Are you sure this is not a typo? You're requesting a lock on yourself. Best, A09|(pogovor) 13:51, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry,I need unlock ,I can't edit in wikidata ——星辰之叹 (talk) 01:27, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Your account is not locked. You are likely affected by an IP block, in which case you need to request an IP block exemption. --Leonidlednev (talk) 01:31, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
What can I do?I can't edit in IP block exemption.I sent a email to stewards@wikimedia.org,but none reply ——星辰之叹 (talk) 08:30, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Global block/unblock for Some IP address or account

[edit]
Status:    In progress

Description, evidence, diffs, etc. --Hi Wikimedia! My IP address was blocked and I am writing to you to request to unblock my IP address and my IP address range. My IP range is 141.98.142.0/24 and my current IP address is 141.98.142.91

I need to unblock my IP so I can use Wikipedia again and be able to create an account. Please unblock my IP address 141.98.142.91 and my IP range 141.98.142.0/24. Thanks141.98.142.130 23:16, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done skipping copying this to the main page just to decline it there. 141.98.*, due to abuse logged out contributions from this range are currently disallowed. To edit Wikipedia, you will need an account. You may create an account when using a different network, or ask for help here: w:en:Wikipedia:Request an account. — xaosflux Talk 14:10, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Xaosflux Hi Xaosflux! I have requested an account to be created at the link you provided to me and I chose this username: FaruSau but I didn't get a confirmation email from the Wikimedia team that my account has been created. I don't know what to do next. I have also sent an email to Wikimedia Stewards regarding the account creation that I have submitted a request to recover my account and isn't being created, but I didn't get a response from Wikimedia Stewards team. I don't know what to do next. So, its better to unblock my IP that appears as blocked when I want to create a new account.
My IP address that appears during the block on Wikimedia account creation procedure is: 141.98.142.148
My IP address range that appears during the block on Wikimedia account creation procedure is: 141.98.142.0/24
Thanks 141.98.142.148 15:58, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
We're not unblocking this IP. If you have already gotten to put a request in at https://accounts.wmflabs.org/ you will need to wait for a response. If not, submit a request there manually. — xaosflux Talk 16:03, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Xaosflux Hi Xaosflux! I have submitted requests manually in the link you provided, but I still didn't get a response there. I even didn't get a response from Wikipedia account creation request team. I need to unblock my IP so I can create my account myself. Thanks 141.98.142.119 17:39, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You will just need to wait, or make an account using a different network connection. — xaosflux Talk 18:16, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why block T-Mobile IPs?

[edit]

I'm not too sure as to whether this is the right venue for this. I'm not autoconfirmed, and I attempted to email the stewards, just for one to reply "go to SRG lol" so here I go.(?)

When I first discovered this website, I was eager to edit, and when I did, all I got was a nice fat message telling me that "all T-mobile IPs are blocked, to prevent vandalism". A nice glance through the Advice for T-mobile users page gives me why they're blocked:

because T-mobile uses a proxy server.

Now while T-mobile certainly totally 100% is renowned for its infinite wisdom, (I can at least be glad it's not AT&T) so I won't bother questioning why, but the whole reason why T-Mobile got blocked is because little Sally got bored one day, decided to vandalize the 'Pedia, discovered how to change IPs, and kept going.

So now, everyone using America's 3rd largest cell phone provider, like 60 million people can't edit wikipedia because of the actions of a few users. (assuming that doesn't effect non-us IPs)

Isn't that quite some flawed logic? I thought blocks were meant to be preventative and not preemptive? This seems quite preemptive just to go around mass g-blocking IPs because "they MIGHT be used for vandalism 😱😱". Then the "advice" page goes around effectively telling you how to evade that block?

Like a would-be vandal wouldn't just read that?

So all this is doing is shutting out potential editors, over the guise of protection, when in reality it does more harm than whatever good it's trying to achieve. So why block T-mobile IPs?

Now, look, you're probably wondering, "you've had this account for like a year now, why are you complaining now? Just edit normally you whiner!?!?!". And look, that's fair, but I'm just doing this for my IP homies out there. You know that 70-60-80 whatever % of IP editors are good benevolent editors seeking to improve this place, so just let them be?

All I can do is apologize for this rambly post that I may as well post to the scary site I shall not name that ends in "ocracy" because that'll have about as much as an effect as it would posting here. (none). OzzyOlly (talk) 02:24, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Also, they're blocked on meta too??? OzzyOlly (talk) 02:25, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
