Bellingham is a city in Northwestern Washington with around 75,000 people, making it the 11th largest city in Washington. Many people come to Bellingham because it is home to Western Washington University, which also contributes to Bellingham's thriving music and arts scene. Bands such as Death Cab for Cutie and The Trucks hail from Bellingham. The name of Bellingham is derived from the bay on which the city is situated. George Vancouver, who visited the area in June 1792, named the bay for Sir William Bellingham, the controller of the storekeeper's account of the Royal Navy.
