The former Disney Soda Fountain & Studio Store closed on September 29, 2013, has converted into a merged Disney Studio Store & Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop, making one the longest store names in the world! Opened on November 15, 2013 and this is the first Ghirardelli shop in the Los Angeles area. The shop will give moviegoers, visitors and locals a chance to experience Ghirardelli’s world-famous hot fudge sundaes, shakes, floats, and delicious assortment of chocolates and beautifully wrapped gifts. Each guest will also enjoy a free sample of Ghirardelli Squares® chocolate. Ghirardelli Chocolate will create original ice cream sundaes for select film releases, providing El Capitan moviegoers with a unique Ghirardelli experience. In continuing with this partnership, the new soda fountain and chocolate shop joins the existing Disney Studio Store which offers an assortment of classic Disney character souvenirs, merchandise from current film releases playing at El Capitan Theatre, highly sought after collectible pins, and a large selection of Blu-Ray and DVD home entertainment.

Near the store entrance you can see the stars of Disney characters like, Tinker Bell, Winnie and the Pooh, The Muppets, creator/animator John Lasseter, and even the amusment park name Disneyland on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The "Disneyland" star is located at the entrance door of the store. The star was placed there on July 14, 2005 along with a Sleeping Beauty castle in the middle, in order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the park opening.
