A city of oblast significance and the administrative center of the Pervomaisk Raion (district) of Mykolaiv Oblast (region) of Ukraine.
Was founded as settlements in 1676.
Population is 66,089 (2017).

The city was established in 1919 after the establishment of the Soviet regime.
It combined several other older settlements (Bohopil, Olviopol and Holta).
In the Soviet Union city was known for dislocation of Soviet Rocket Forces.
