A garden mansion built by the Dhaka Nawabs as Durbar Hall or Conference halls which was actually a focal part of the Shah bagh Amenabagh gardens (present campus) was an important place where many important national meetings of the subcontinent were held. The 'Modhur Canteen' a familiar name in the history of Dhaka University and a place also associated with many national movements was shifted to this structure in 1967. The present building also has important architectural and heritage value.
