Situated on approximately 188 acres along the Niagara River, Tonawanda Coke operates 24 hours per day, 365 days a year producing foundry coke for use in steel mills, automotive production and in other foundry-related industries.

The company announced its intention to shut down operations in October of 2018, following several high-profile EPA fines and public lawsuits resulting from reckless operations that resulted in considerable environmental contamination in the surrounding area.
