In the Town of Southeast. Named for Tilla Foster (1793-1842; buried at Gilead Cem., Carmel), whose land is now a County farm preserve. The Tilly Foster Mine is on the peninsula. The Putnam Division railroad bridge at left is on the planned Rail Trail.

Before the mine area was closed to visitors it was a rockhounds paradise, with some the best specimens of serpentine around.
