The Wrest Point Hotel Casino is Hobart's main casino and the first legal casino to open in Australia.

Originally named the Wrest Point Riviera Hotel, the original art deco hotel opened on December 5th, 1939; and became one of Hobart's most modern hotels. The owner, Arthur Drysdale, who had purchased the property at Wrest Point in 1936; sold the hotel to Federal Hotels (now The Federal Group) who have owned the complex since 1956. The Wrest Point Hotel Casino as it is known today was opened on February 10th, 1973, and it became Australia's first legal casino; breaking the floodgates for the opening of casinos across the nation.
The hotel tower, designed by Sir Roy Burman Grounds, is Hobart's tallest building at 73 metres, and has become an iconic city landmark.
