2006-08-03 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Paul Smedley Hi All, A number of updates have been made at http://smedley.info/os2ports over the past week or so - some of these have made it onto some news pages, others have gone unreported. The changes are: - 20060803 - OpenTTD port added - 20060729 - Apache2 updated to v2.2.3 - 20060729 - lbreakout2 updated to v2.6beta6 and to use sdl12.dll - 20060729 - Enigma updated to use sdl12.dll - 20060729 - Tuxpaint updated to use sdl12.dll - 20060729 - Rocks'n'Diamonds updated to v3.2.0 - 20060728 - LyX port updated to beta 2 - 20060728 - The Battle for Wesnoth updated to v1.1.8 Some of these are just recompiles of old ports to bring them to latest SDL, however OpenTTD and LyX are new ports. OpenTTD is a clone of the Microprose game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe", a popular game originally written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the original game as closely as possible while extending it with new features. LyX is a document processor that encourages an approach to writing based on the structure of your documents, not their appearance. It is released under a Free Software / Open Source license. LyX is for people that write and want their writing to look great, right out of the box. No more endless tinkering with formatting details, 'finger painting' font attributes or futzing around with page boundaries. You just write. In the background, Prof. Knuth's legendary TeX typesetting engine makes you look good. Cheers, Paul. Top

2006-08-03 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Peter Brown Hi All This application is designed to help (re)configure USB drivers and devices. It is not designed to install USB drivers, the drivers must already be installed - it should help sort out driver parameters so the drivers become useful though :-) Please read the Readme.txt file included in the package before attempting to install and use the application as this details any changes in installation and behaviour. Changes from earlier releases:- Some minor changes to prevent USBcfg from trying to configure any CWUSB drivers. Added an USBFAQ.INF file which currently contains Lon Hookers helpful "USB Removables - Care and Feeding FAQs". http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=USBcfgb7a Regards Pete Top
2006-08-04 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Norman I ported the fantastic scripting language "newLISP" to OS/2 using GCC. You can find the compiled binary at http://newlisp.nodep.nl/newlisp2.html The source code can be found at the newlisp website http://www.newlisp.org *** newLISP is a LISP-like scripting language for doing things you typically do with scripting languages: CGI programming, system administration, text processing, gluing other programs together, etc. newLISP is a scripting LISP for people who are fascinated by LISP's beauty and power of expression, but who need it stripped down to easy-to-learn essentials. newLISP is small on resources like disk space and memory but has a deep, practical API. *** PS: the OS/2 version is still under enhancement...;-) Hope its of use, Enjoy, Norman. 2006-08-05 [ Note that Mark Dodel is on vacation so I am acting as moderator until he returns ] From: Paul Smedley Hi All, I've just uploaded Apache 2.2.3 beta2 for OS/2 & eComStation to my site at http://smedley.info/os2ports Fixes in v2.2.3 b2 - All known issues with modphp are resolved - Hooray! - implementation of ThreadStackSize parameter based on patch for 2.0.59 from Brian Havard - all possible modules built as shared modules - see .../conf/httpd.conf.sample for the full list of module names, and those that need to be loaded for most configurations General feedback can be provided to paul@smedley.info, bug reports should go to http://mantis.smedley.info Thanks to Brian Havard for doing most of the hard work to get Apache2 to run with EMX, and to Knut for making GCC/libc so great! General feedback should be sent to paul@smedley.info, bugs can be reported via http://mantis.smedley.info Cheers, Paul Smedley Adelaide, Australia 6th August, 2006 Top
