Sky Skimmer
Sky Skimmer was first released in 1997 as part of the Secret Surprise Friends set and has a total of eight releases. Her name changes to Butterfly with her final two versions.
Secret Surprise Friends Sky Skimmer has two variants – one row of mane plugs and two rows of mane plugs – like all other 1997 ponies except Light Heart. In the UK, she was sometimes sold with a "free gift" sheet of 60 nail stickers attached to her backcard. There are also variations of her USA backcard – one that lists Kenner as the manufacturer and another that lists Hasbro. The text remains the same with some slight differences in typography.
Sky Skimmer has three 1999 releases, one for the Easter holiday and two royal releases as Lady Sky Skimmer. Easter Sky Skimmer was packaged and sold with a Lambada in Greece. Her first royal release is as part of a two-pony Royal Friends set, and the second is as a Royal Lady pony with Magic Motion.
Lady Sky Skimmer is promoted to Princess Sky Skimmer in 2000 as part of a two-pony playset with Baby Fleur. In 2001, she joins the Changing Mane and Tail set for her final release as Sky Skimmer.
In 2002, Sky Skimmer becomes Butterfly and is part of the Magician Ponies set, sharing a name with another very different pony from the same set, Magic Butterfly II. Her final G2 release as Butterfly includes her with the Pony School playset.
