[nafex] Sweetest Apple
I can only say that the storebought apples have been pitifully low in
sugar. The apple that was by far the highest in sugar (specific
gravity as measured by a hydrometer) of all the local and store
bought apples was an apple I have of unknown origin. Ed Fackler says
that Florina is so sweet that it is too sweet. Since he tasted the
apple I mentioned previously I can assume probably that Florina is
sweeter (or he would have said so). I haven't tested Wickson Crab or
Florina yet, hoping to fruit them soon. I will do another test this
year and will let you know, we'll try Honeycrisp and see how it
rates. I would expect Liberty to be fairly high also, in a good year.

PS, to do your own tests a hydrometer (sp?) is cheap, less than ten
bucks. A juicer works great as a way to extract the liquid for the
testing.
