- Report on Nuclear Employment Strategy of the United States, Specified in Section 491 of 10 U.S.C. 12 June 2013, released 19 June 2013 -- With the President's issuance of new nuclear weapons employment guidance, this report is being provided in advance of implementation and, thus, fulfills the requirements of Section 491. Implementation of this new employment strategy will consist of updating Department of Defense (DoD) military guidance and plans over the next year.
- 2010 Nuclear Posture Review Report April 2010 -- After describing fundamental changes in the international security environment, the NPR report focuses on five key objectives of our nuclear weapons policies and posture: 1) Preventing nuclear proliferation and nuclear terrorism; 2) Reducing the role of U.S. nuclear weapons in U.S. national security strategy; 3) Maintaining strategic deterrence and stability at reduced nuclear force levels; 4) Strengthening regional deterrence and reassuring U.S. allies and partners; and 5) Sustaining a safe, secure, and effective nuclear arsenal.
