 Sixth Launch Center

The new sixth launch center is located on the Kourou Space Center , French Guiana for the StarSem cooperative Russian and French new launch facility project for the Soyuz-ST booster commercial use. Ten Russian Soyuz-ST class space booster rockets were ordered in 2008 and fourteen more were ordered in March 2010. The first launch from the Kouror Space Center from the newly built Soyuz-ST launch infrastructure is now rescheduled for a 2011 launch to orbit with as yet finalized satellite payload. The launch site is primarily intended for launches for geostationary orbital satellites.
