Lecturer
in Computer Science
University of Massachusetts Boston
The Department of Computer Science seeks applications for a lecturer
whose primary responsibility will be to teach in and help shape the
first few years of the undergraduate major. Responsibilities include
teaching three courses each semester, course development, supervision
of graduate teaching assistants and undergraduate advising.
The Department currently serves a large and diverse student body -
approximately 300 undergraduate majors, 120 Master's students and a
handful of dcotoral candidates. Recent hires have strengthened the
graduate program. This one will strengthen the undergraduate Computer
Science major. That program starts with a year of Java, introducing
object orirented programming and traditional material on data
structures and algorithms, a semester of C covering details of data
representation and memory management and a semester of advanced data
structures and algorithms that serves as an introduction to
methodologies for structuring projects of modest size.

Committment to and experience in teaching Computer Science are
required. A Master's degree in Computer Science and software industry
experience are desirable.
This is a regular faculty position, but not tenure track.
The initial appointment will be for two years, with renewals
possible (and expected) for the right person.
