Aries 1
I got a pristine condition hardback of Aries 1, published in 1979. There is a Slow Glass short story by Bob Shaw and Malcolm Harris, read and enjoyed pretty much on receipt of the book. It’s a real short story, simple straight plot with twist at the end. I enjoyed it. Being a Bob Shaw story there are all sorts of ideas thrown around which could have been explanded on in a novel.
Being a short story collection there are all sorts of wonders to be explored by other Authors and I also read the short by David Langford as well, and looking forward to delve into the book further in the near future.
Some Stuff From eBay
Haven’t posted for ages but I have been building my Bob Shaw collection. I have all his books in UK hardback and just bought a US hardback of Cosmic Kaleidosciope. I’ve got a fair few American paperbacks but this, I believe, is the first American hardback.
Ebay has also, recently, furnished two copies of Nebula Magazine with Bob Shaw stories in them.
I’ll need to set aside time to read them – also others in the magazines such as the Heinlein stories.
I also got a neat copy of the Seacon 79 book.
Beyond This Horizon
Bought from eBay this was published to coincide with the Beyond This Horizon Festival from 1973 – October 23rd to November 25th to be precise. There were various editions produced from a one off to an ordinary edition. I have the ordinary edition, which was priced at £1.10.
Bob Shaw has Alter Egoes in this edition and I must confess I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet.
