Another odd single, this time from Montreal electro-funksters Chromeo. The electric piano is in full deployment with Dave 1's smooth pop vocals and spritey lyrics. THUNDERHEIST: Jerk It

Dynamic electro-hop duo Thunderheist hail from the dual Toronto and Montreal electro scenes. Set to release their much anticipated debut on Big Dada this March, this is their first video, directed by That Go, which features trashy chicken-choking spandex girl. Good times party duo Chromeo continue to bring back eighties inspired electrofunk with a third single from their sophamore release, Fancy Footwork. I was fortunate enough to catch the twosome as they brought the house down recently at the Bowery Ballroom. It absolutely blows my mind the Dave1 (aka David Macklovitch) is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Columbia university. Bonafide brilliant. This video is a riff off the iconic Money For Nothing Dire Straits video, reinterpreted by director Nima Nourizadeh. Watch the music video (qt).

ARCADE FIRE: Neon Bible

There is something brilliant about this latest single accompaniment from Montreal indie darlings, Arcade Fire. Not quite a music video, but an interactive clickity-click flash interpretation that generates a unique narrative depended on the viewers involvement. The solemn musical productions is equally paired with a sparse black and white palette with plenty to both functional and aesthetic empty spaces. From their second album of the same name , in collaboration with Montreal based interactive designer Vincent Morisset. Highly viral. Watch the music video (interactive).

ISLANDS: Don't Call Me Whitney, Bobby

Montreal old ballers, Islands, piece together a odd folk song of love and oddness. Sure there are occasional curse words interspersed between doot doots, but it's really a happy number with a happy colourful video. Those multicoloured cartoony blobs of animated goodness are courtesy of Ben Jones (of Paperrad / Wyld File notoriety). And yes, J'aime Tambeur, one the original Islands / ex-The Unicorns members has left the band. And the band plays on. Watch the music video (qt).
