A striped orange dire wolf, found on Summerset

Dire Wolves are a larger variety of wolf found in Tamriel's wilderness. They can also be summoned by spriggans and pet rangers. Werewolf players who have the Pack Leader morph can summon two dire wolves to fight by their side.

Their coats appear in a variety of colors. Grey dire wolves often appear in packs in grasslands, orange dire wolves with red eyes may sometimes be found guarding their pups in tropical areas, brown dire wolves can be found in Elsweyr and black dire wolves are encountered in the Hunting Grounds.

Striped dire wolf pups can be found in the countryside near Alinor and in Archon's Grove. They don't have nameplates and cannot be harmed.

Skills and Abilities

Bite

A basic melee attack that deals minor physical damage.

Gnash

A basic double-hitting melee attack that deals minor physical damage.

Nip

A basic melee attack that deals minor physical damage and has a chance of dealing bleeding damage over time.

Harry

A basic melee attack that deals minor physical damage and snares. Blocking doesn't negate the snare.

Lunge

The dire wolf leaps forward and bites, aiming for a weak point, dealing moderate physical damage with a chance of dealing bleeding damage over time.

Howl

The dire wolf howls loudly as its eyes start to glow red, increasing its damage output and starts to slowly heal up. It also alerts nearby dire wolves to come help.

Backstab

The dire wolf has a passive ability that causes it to deal 20% more damage when attacking the target's back.

Generic, unnamed dire wolves can be encountered in various places across Tamriel, including delves, dungeons, and DLC content. These dire wolves have varying stats, namely health. Below is a list of dire wolves, categorized by location, difficulty and health.
