Ford is making a comeback in India by restarting its manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, focusing on exports to global markets. The company had exited India in 2021 due to losses and low market share but has submitted a letter of intent to the Tamil Nadu government for a potential re-entry. Discussions with Tamil Nadu officials, including Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, are centered around renewing Ford’s three-decade partnership and exploring electric vehicle manufacturing. Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister Dr. T R B Rajaa tweeted "Ford is Back" and shared a video seated in a Ford car, marking the company's renewed plans in the region.
