The town of Gobabis is the capital of Omaheke Region, eastern Namibia.

It is on the border of the Kalahari desert, inhabited by the people Herero .
The town was established in 1856 and today has 16 000 inhabitants (source: Wikipedia 2011) .
The town has schools, two hospitals, clinics, banks and shops and a stage (Legare Stadium) .
The main economic activitée Gobabis in raising cattle, and is the largest provider of livestock in the country.

Gobabis is situated on the road between Windhoek B6 (200km) and the border post Buitepos (200km) to reach South Africa via Botswana (trans-Kalahari) .
Buitepos the border post is open from 7:00 a.m. to 0:00.
Gobabis is also connected to the railway network in Namibia.
But the train from the capital Windhoek four times a week does more passengers.
The nearest airport is located in Windhoek, Eros Airport 194 km east of Gobabis.
