if your plane is along the x-, y-, or z-axis
the fastest would probably be to add a volume-slice
representation and use a transpared material.
alternatively you can construct a plane easily from
two triangles.

that would be somewhat inconvenient as you cannot
have infinitely large objects... ;-)
if you program a function for it, please consider doing
at in a way, that it can be used with VMD's draw command.
